Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Jh.2ADE/1132.2 Message Board Post: Summer Hours Beginning July 1st, the New Rochelle Public Library will restore Tuesday and Thursday morning hours to its service schedule. As usual, the Library will be closed Saturdays from June 28th through August 30th. The complete summer schedule is as follows: Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesdays - 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Fridays - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition to the traditional book collections, the following special collections of the Library are noted: Located on the 2nd floor, the E. L. Doctorow Local History Collection collects and preserves old and current library materials pertaining to the history of New Rochelle, and those works about Westchester County and New York State that assist patrons in putting New Rochelle’s own history in perspective. The New Rochelle Photograph Collection The Local Author Collection on the 2nd floor collects and preserves significant works by authors, illustrators, and performers who are identified with the City of New Rochelle through birth and/or residency. Also the Rockford Public Library (30 or so miles North of Rochelle) has an extensive local history room on the 3rd floor. Also has all of the Rockford newspapers on microfilm since 1850's. They usually reported any deaths within the surrounding counties and local news. The obits for these may be minimal however.
