    1. [ILOGLE] [OGLE] Question of Migration Patterns
    2. S. Olson
    3. Out of curiousity I am wondering how many of our ancestors in Ogle County originally came from Delaware County, New York and perhaps, even more specifically Middletown. I am starting to see a bit of a pattern of this. Does anyone know anything of the background? It is an interesting migration pattern. --Many seemed to have followed in the steps of those who first left New York. Does anyone have any insight other than a generalized "greener pastures?" The anti-rent wars certainly may have played into this.

    3. I don't have any ancestors from Delaware, New York, but migration patterns are interesting. I have the same questions about Bradford County, Pennsylvania and Delaware County, Ohio. I've been assuming it was just a matter of word flowing back re good land, low prices etc., but perhaps there's "more to the story". 3. If you study history you will find that these migrations follow that openings of lands due to land grants some of which were payments for services as war pensions and when the government had pay with land instead of cash for other services rendered. Movements went on like this often and account for large movements of groups of people from one state to another.
