I believe there are at the Chamber of Commerce, and Byron Museum. As far as the Funeral Home's go... If it was held in Byron that Funeral Home does not exist anymore, although there is one there, I wouldn't imagine they keep things that far back. It is possible he died in another surrounding county and then was buried in Byron. Winnebago County is the closest county alot of person died in Winnebago County and then buried in another County. Most of my relatives died in a hospital in Rockford, Winnebago Co., then were buried in Ogle County. The death record would be located in the county he died. Best bet is to check surrounding counties for death certs. I would be glad to take photos of the grave and stones in Byron for you, if you want them.
