Davison, 73, of Chana died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at KSB Hospital, Dixon. He was born Feb. 5, 1928, in Oregon, the son of George and Amanda (Engelkes) Davison. He married Vera Kendel on Dec. 10, 1950, in Mount Morris. He farmed for many years before working at White Pines State Park as assistant park ranger. He also was sexton of Daysville Cemetery for 19 years and a Nashua Township trustee for 16 years. He had a love for wild flowers and did all he could to preserve them for posterity. He is survived by his wife, Vera, one son, W. James (Mary Lynn) Davison of Dixon; his mother, Amanda of Franklin Grove; grandchildren, Anna and Tonya Davison, Graham Greenfield, Jeni Smith, Donald J. Emmert and Ryan Lavelle; and great-grandchildren, Vincent and Spencer Smith. He was preceded in death by his father; one daughter, Julie Greenfield; and one brother, Russell. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon, with the Rev. Alan Meyer, pastor of Chana United Methodist Church, officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Monday, May 28, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Daysville Cemetery. Davison, formerly of Chana, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, in KSB Hospital. Born April 11, 1908, in Pine Rock Township, the daughter of Martin and Gertrude (Zell) Engelkes. Married to George Davison on Dec. 21, 1926. He died April 3, 1970. She lived on their farm and helped her husband until his retirement. One of Amanda’s proudest achievements was earning her high school diploma at age of 72. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and all types of needlework and had taught classes in knitting and crocheting at Kishwaukee College for several years. Survived by daughters-in-law, Vera Davison of Chana and Marilyn Davison of Freeport, grandchildren, W. James (Mary Lynn) Davison of Dixon, Catherine (Ray) Colebaugh of Davis and Linda Barber of Bloomington; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Bright of Oregon and Martha (Warren) Schneider of Byron; and many nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by sons, Willis and Russell Davison; granddaughter, Julie Greenfield, three brothers; and seven sisters. Service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, in Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home, Oregon, with the Rev. Brian Channel, pastor of Lighthouse United Methodist Church, officiating. Hello. Abraham Meyers family supposedly came from Washington county,MD. Abraham married Ella Maria Mack in Ogle county,IL. Tho Ella may have married under different name as she lost her parents when she was not yet 5 years old. But Abraham & Ella had two known sons. Viola.

I have the information! I was looking for Levi Dietrich's civil war information and the closest we came were records that ended with him dead in Andersonville Prison. I now believe he was Levi Ditter (appears with atht name on a couple of census ) and that he served from Aug 29, 1861 until Sept 3, 1864. have the company muster rolls roe him serving in Co. C,21 and then in Co. D, 98th PA. My "cousin" also sent several photo pages of Levi and Lydia trying to get a war disability pension and then laterLydis proving she was married to Levi to get a widow pension. It is such a shame that a man who served so faithfully throughout the whole war and then when "broken " and unable to function the rest of his life or for his wife to get assistance after his death couldn't get the help. I wonder why he decided to abandon the spelling of his name. Perhaps it was a readin' and writin' problem but it makes it difficult to trace his line.
