For those of you/us who have seen the 1840 Ogle County census, does anyone want to hazard a guess as to how many of those individuals who lived here in 1840 have descendants still in the county, today. Would there be 25 percent of the 1840 residents who have descendants here today? Or 15 percent? Or 5 percent? Just curious! Family history says they "drowned in the river" when my great grandfather, William Bennett Morton (born June 28, 1857) was about 8 or 10 years old. The 1860 census shows William Bennett living with his parents in Rockvale, Ogle, Ill but the 1870 census shows William and his younger brother, Thomas, living with George W. Davis (still in Ogle but the parents are missing). Any information on them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lee

Hi Everyone! I am new to the list. I am orginally from Oregon, Ogle county Illinois, now residing in Tennessee. Was wondering if anyone out there may have info on a George Washington Cox Born May 2, 1834 in Maryland? Need info on his parents and sibblings. He is my G-Grandfather. George Washington Cox had 2 sons that I know of: Grover Cleveland Cox -Born March 7, 1888 in Mt. Morris and George Riley Cox -Born Oct. 7, 1893 in Oregon. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
