    2. In a message dated 9/2/2006 2:40:11 P.M. US Mountain Standard Time, Limcd@cox.net writes: These OGLE families had men that enlisted in the Union Army in the early 1860's. One LINGG son, Joseph W. stayed in the eastern U.S.and fought for the Union in a Phildelphia Unit. He was killed on the battlefield at Spottsylvania, VA in May 1864. I see a lot of Linggs in the Grand Detour Cemetery records. Do you have this info? Roger

    3. The original spelling of family name "Huff" was HOUGH. Try checking under that spelling. The word "settlement" also means an agreement.....perhaps like present-day escrow? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Toby & Jim Hurley" <tjhurley1@earthlink.net> To: <ILOGLE@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 02, 2006 11:28 AM Subject: Re: [ILOGLE] [IL-OGLE] 1872 County Directory > I haven't seen any responsed to this. > > My vote would be that he settled (moved to) the land that year. In the Directory it says that D Huff Leaf River, Date of settlement 1846, does that mean he bought the property in 1846? Or that he came to Ogle Co in 1846. Because my David S would have been only 10 years old then. He did come to Ogle Co in 1846. I was hoping that maybe this was his father.
