    3. Hi! Can someone out there help me? I am looking for the burial site of Grace Radcliff who died February, 1953. In December of 1951, she was mentioned as living in Byron, Illinois, according to her brother's obit. Her son, Earl, married in Nebraska on November, 1951, to Mrs. Irma Tillett. Earl and Irma were from Illinois and went back to Illinois after their marriage and visit. Thanks! mr

    3. Hi Bryn, I have 2 children of Daniel and Mary Malone m. 5/12/34 Wash. Co. Margaret Ellen b. 9/25/1835 Wash Co. MD d.11/20/1896 m. Daniel Fouch 4/8/1856 Mary Ann 10/1859-11/1859 Louis b. ca. 1858 Albert 1860-1935 Della b. ca. 1865 Daniel b.ca. 1866 James L. aka George Washington Richardson b. Mar 1837 d. 1901 Mary Malone died April 1837, these children lived with their grandparents in Maryland until their gfather died in 1845, then they moved to OIge Co. They are on the 1850 census, Susan Malone is head of household (gmother). The reason I know about the change of name is James is my gggrandfather and my maiden name is Richardson. He served in the Civil War as Poffenberger but by the time he married in 1881 he was Richardson. But back to James/George's father Daniel. I do not think he is the Daniel who married Sophia Palmer and here are my reasons: 1. Daniel and Mary Malone married in Wash. Co. she lived/died and is buried there. Sophia is from Fred. Co. and she married her Daniel there. 2. Daniel and Mary were married for less than 3 years and in that time had 2 children. I assume he was approx. the same age as she was, so he was 19-22 while they were married. Sophia got married in 1849 - 12 years after the death of Mary Malone. So he went from 22-34 years of age without being married. I think this is highly unlikely. 3. A Daniel married Barbara Miller in 9/5/1839 in Wash Co. and lived there with her until they moved to Ogle Co. between 1860-65 when he died. I think this is much more likely a match for Mary Malone's Daniel. I have been to the farm where she is buried and the Miller farm is just over the hill from it. Also this is only 2.5 years from the time Mary Malone died. 4. In Lightsville Cemetary there is a Daniel buried 1865, on that same page is James P's brother-in-law, mother-in-law, and 2 of his children. On the next page is Mary Malone's brother James, his wife, wife's parents and brother, and their 2 daughters and spouses. On the next page in Daniel and Barbara's son Walter Scott and his wife. On the next page is James Malone's son Alfred and his wife and son. So, whew, these are the reasons that I think Mary Malone's Daniel married Barbara Miller second and not Sophia Palmer. I have all the stuff on James/George's (my) family if it of interest to you Jeannie ---Brian Hulleberg wrote: > > Jeannie, > > Here is some news that may prove helpful. I hope. > > I have Daniel Poffenberger as being married to Mary Malone. And then I show him married to Sophia Palmer. Interesting thing is this, Sophia & Daniels children were born from 1854 - 1872. What did Daniel do in between 1837 - 1854? Thats a good 17 years. Could he have had another wife in there? > > What children do you have for Daniel & Mary Malone? i don't have any. So any would be great. You say Daniel and Mary Malone had a boy that changed his name, how did you find that one out. 3. My grandfathers home is on Washington St. in Oregon IL. He lives right accross the street from the Court House. Well, It is a block down the street. i recently moved away from there and I go back fairly often. Actually, I did not know about the genealogy room downstairs. i do go through the records there. The big books on the main floor. Found a ton there. Plus, i have learned how to use the films they have available out here. That was a fun one. As for Hiscox, I have heard the name. Every thing is small towns there in Ogle Co. My family is still there in many of those places. Many names too. I am now living on the boarder of Idaho & Utah. 3. Hello Jeannie, The Genealogy room in Ogle is located in the basement of the Oregon Library. It is at: 300 Jefferson St., Oregon, Il. 61061 815 732-2724. Myself and a few others are usually there on Fridays to assist and work on keeping the room up. The Court house for Ogle is around the corner from the Library. The size of Oregon is about 3,000 and a tourist town. If you want to see a map of this area, go to my homepage and click on "Communities of Northern Illinois". Most other towns in Ogle have libraries. In my resourses section at the web page you will find a listing of the libraries and what most of them offer. The ones that say nothing, I just wasn't sure about yet. There is a motel along the river called the V.I.P. Motel, There is a hotel across the highway from there called the Paddle Wheel Inn, which is very nice. And there is a bed and breakfast in town too. As far as the airport distance. Do you mean Rockford or Chicago? Chicago is about 90 miles east of here and Rockford is about 30 miles north. If you come, try to come on a Friday so we can meet. I appreciate the lookup work you do for the site. If you have any more questions, let me know. 3. Jeannie, Here is some news that may prove helpful. Great news too. Also, i show Daniels parents as Henry Poffenberger Sr & Catherine Bogner. Let me know what you think. Interesting huh. 3. Gail, I love that route 2 drive. My wife always thinks we're going to fall into the river when we drive by it. I spent a lot of time in Oregon also. My family lives on Washington. My uncle now has our farm in Pine Creek and my uncle has the other in Polo. And the one in Grand Detour also. OUr family is pretty wide spread in the Ogle co. Area. When I was growing up, we owned the island that is after Oregon on the way to Rockford. It is now a landmark. It has a plaque and a little rest area off rt. 2. Our little home on the island is still there. We had that for a long time. It was a fun place to visit. Bryn >>> <ILOGLE-L@rootsweb.com> 5/6/98 5:09:24 PM >>> Bryn, See it is a small world, not really. Dr. Kirkpatrick, a Vascular Surgeon, lives here in CG too. He graduated from West in 60 and I would have graduated from East in 60 but we moved to CO in the spring of 59. Spent a lot of my summers near Oregon where my great grandparents lived, near good old Blackhawk. I love that old statue, always wanted to go in and see all the pennies. Also, do you remember driving from Rockford to Oregon on Rt. 2 along the river. You used to see along the river doors that went into the ground or the banks and probably went to the houses, tunnels, and I remember hearing that that was where they kept the slaves during the day who were running to freedom and then back to the river at night. I used to think how I would like to go and check out one of those tunnels. We lived near the river in Grant Park.....out by the airport. We were never allowed near the river. My grandfather drowned in the river and his body was found out by the Cederquist farm past the airport. But, kids will be kids!!! What my mother doesn't know won't hurt her. Got to run.......memories, I love them...and I am sure on this list there will be a lot.
