I would like to post all of it again in a few weeks if that is all right. Because of the great amoutn it is and it would be a great help to those that can't look readily. Jeannie sent me this information recently and I wanted to get it out for those that are interested. By the way, where is every one? Haven't heard much for a while. Bryn

    3. Jason: Permelia M. Thomas (1833-1923) was married 12/20/1860 to Robert S. Hill (1828-1894). She was the daughter of Joshua Thomas (Washington Co., MD) and Selina Landis. Permelia's siblings were Mary Catherine Thomas who married Martin M. Funk; Henry L. Thomas who married Mary Ellen Felker; Lewis Thomas; and John Thomas. Joshua Thomas was the son of Henry Thomas (b) 1783 and Catherine Schechter (b) abt. 1790, of Washington Co., MD. There is a Schechter Family History in the Ogle County Genealogical Library located on the lower floor of the Oregon Public Library. I don't know if this will give more information on the Thomas family or not. Hope this is of help to you in your research. Harriet Miller Fletcher 205 E. Lincoln St. Mt. Morris, IL 61054

    3. I haven't gotten an e-mail from the group for a short bit and thought I would just test it. Bryn >>> <Jay21740@aol.com> 6/2/98 10:28:33 AM >>> Ellen, Samuel Furry and Susan Siderstick were married May 5, 1830 here in Washington County. They lived in the Funkstown area of Washington County. Susan was a sister to my gr-gr-grandmother Elizabeth Siderstick Shilling. I have never found anything more of them in this area. Since Furry was an early name in your area, it is possible they may have gone there. But who knows! I, also, am interested in any information on David Gimple, brother to my great-grandmother who lived in Mt. Morris and was a farmer. I have a record that some of this family are buried in the cemetery just west of Mt. Morris. Cannot think of the name just now but my wife and I visited there in June 1996. A large portion of those buried there are early relatives. Catherine Funk Rice is buried in this cemetery along with others of the Rice family. Thank you in advance. Please let me know of anything I might be able to find for you here. Jay Jay

    2. Hi Jay, No I do not have any info on Samuel and Susan FURRY, but I will be going to the library within the next few days, and can look up the FURRYS' in the Mt. Morris Cemetery books for you if you think that might help. I could also check the census' for you, if you could give me an approxamate time they disappeared. Sorry I have nothing for you now. Let me know if these look-ups might help. Good Hunting, Ellen

    2. Ellem, I found this interesting material on Mt. Morris. I am related to Newcomer's through the Funk family. Catherine Funk Rice who was the wife of Jacob Rice and step-mother of Dr. Isaac Rice would have been my 1st cousin - forget how many generations removed. My great-grandparenrs Joseph and Mary Ellen Reed are buried at Polo. Question: Do you have any information about Samuel and Susan Furry? They were married in Washington County, MD and then vanished from this area. Since Furry was an early name there, they may have there, also. I live in Hagerstown, Washington County, MD. and have access to many early records here. Let me know if I can help you in any way from this end.. Jay L. Troxell Hagerstown, MD

    3. Brynn: The Easterday History did not give the parents names of John Metz. I guess we'll have to go to another source. I would say that searching Washington Co., MD and Frederick Co., MD records would probably be the way to go. I understand that Washington Co. was erected out of the original Frederick Co., MD. On some of our Maryland lines, we have found that the records were in Frederick Co. to begin with. Harriet

    3. Mary, Your Bowers line is very interesting; however, the Bowers family I know of in connection with my husband's lineage intertwine with Wissinger, Baker, Furry, etc., located in the area around Hagerstown, Funkstown and Boonsboro. The Wissinger- Traver-Bowers-Furry-Baker people show up in Pine Creek Township and Rockvale Township. However, that probably doesn't mean anything when we get back some more generations. Thanks for your interest, Mary. What really interests me is Daniel Bowers and Nancy Stoner. I have a great, great grandmother who was Barbara Stoner married to Daniel Newcomer. The Stoner family were quite prominent in Pennsylvania and Maryland. I know some Stoner families came to Carroll Co., IL. Barbara Stoner and Daniel Newcomer are buried in Elkhorn Brick Church Cemetery on the Ogle-Carroll Co. line. I often wondered if Barbara Stoner Newcomer had relatives in Carroll Co., else why did they settle in Eagle Point Twp., when the rest of the Newcomer family, including my great grandparents settle in Mt. Morris Township? Bye for now, Harriet Miller Fletcher 205 E. Lincoln St. Mt. Morris, IL 61054
