Amanda, I one of my mother's books she talks about her childhood in White Rock and this is taken from that article.....[White Rock Twp., Ogle Co., IL] Old "Gramma" Hathaway lived alone on the corner [Northwest] in what had at one time been a farmhouse. It was an old yellow house with gingerbread trim on it. It still stands today [1982]. We loved to visit her, because she made delicious doughnuts and cookies. We always got a treat when we went to her house and she always seemed happy to see us. That is it!! I don't know who she was.. Gail
Thanks Kathy, Dad wasn't sure but thought it was near Freeport. Gail
Hello Jason, Haldane is in Ogle County, about 5 miles west and about 1 mile north of Mt. Morris, Ogle County. Happy Hunting! Kathy JasonA1016@aol.com wrote: > > Hello all.. > > Can anyone tell me exactly where Haldane is located? Is it in Ogle County? > > Thanks! > > Regards, > Jason
I am searching for information having to do with the following: Hosea J. HATHAWAY b. Nov 1812 VT; d. 27 Aug 1877 m. Mariah L. b. 24 Oct 1815 VT; d. 4 Sep 1871 Children: 1. Julia HATHAWAY m. Stephen PARKHUSRT 2. Homer HATHAWAY b. 1854 IL 3. Gertrude Angelica HATHAWAY b. 4 May 1847 Oregon, Ogle Co., IL m. Norman Alexander WEBB 4 Nov 1872 Bozeman, Gallatin Co., MT d. 19 Jul 1931 Hailey, ID (bur. Meridian, Ada Co., ID) I have also seen the above Hosea listed as "Hiram". Gertrude (my g-g-grandmother) left her family (parents) and took out with the wagon train. She came west, working her way with a travelling family. She may have actually gone back and forth with the wagon trains a couple of times. One source has suggested that she may have been adopted by the HATHAWAYs. By looking at the births of her two sons, she also lived: 1881 Bozeman, Gallatin Co., MT 1889 St. Peters, Cascade Co., MT Any information or contacts of persons researching the same would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and take care! -- Amelia Reimer-Davisson
Jason, My Dad thinks that Haldane is near Freeport/Lanark area, that would be Stephenson Co. Gail
Gary, There is a Pommern list, I used to be on it but I don't think it is connected to Roots Web. My family was also in Lindenwood, my grandfather was born there as well as my g grandmother. My grandfather was a Groen and my g grandmother was a Beer but both familes came from Ostfriesland. Just thought I would check. Thanks for your reply, Gail P.S. I graduated from high school in Leadville, we lived in Golden, Littleton, Evergreen as well as Leadville. Before I got married we lived in Twin Lakes, near Granite.
Hi Gail, Sorry but I don't know of any connection to Reints or Beer. My RAMTHUN ancestors came from Koldemanz, Kreis Greifenberg, Pommern. I know at least the Broitzman and Wendt families came to Lindenwood from that village in Pomerania. My LEMBKE family came from Dersekow, near Greifswald, Vor-Pommern (150 miles north of Berlin). This area seemed to be a gathering place in 1864-1870. In 1874 my ancestors found some land in Calhoun County and many of those immigrant families then moved on. Some stayed in that area and attended the Lutheran Church at Lindenwood. Gary, Are any of your German connections to the Reints or Beer's from Lindenwood? Do you know where in Germany your anscestors came from? Gail
Hi Brian, I had this message from you to the Ogle-L list and then nothing. Did I miss your messages, or were they not sent. My interests lie around Lindenwood, near Monroe Center. Do you have a web page? I am interested in German immigrants who settled around Lindenwood: BAHLS, BROITZMAN, BERNER, BISCHOFF, KRETLOW, LEMBKE, WENDT, RAMTHUN, SCHUMACHER. Thanks for the site info. Last time I check Ogle Co. didn't have a separate listing on the USGENWEB. DLBollert
Go to the Ogle County Genealogical web site within the Ogle County GenWeb page and you can e-mail or snail-mail the society for this information. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilogle/societies.htm Good luck! I have gathered a ton of information and added it to my work. I will start sending it to the list. THis information basically ites most families of Ogle Co. to each other. One problem, I am sorry, but because of the imense amount of time it would take to capitolize the names I have not done so. Maybe next time I will do that. So hopefully it will be of a huge help to some one. Bryn
Jason, I will look it up for you. No problem. Will get back to you soon. Bryn >>> <JasonA1016@aol.com> 6/25/98 11:06:22 PM >>> Hello..
