I did find out that George Bonawitz was married before Elizabeth Matter to: Maria Catherina KOPPENHOPER...which my blood roots come from, but William Bonawitz would have been my half GGGG Uncle. All together George Bonawitz had 15 children, unless their are some I don't know about.

Looking for information on GG Grandparents Johannes and Ann Rommereim that settled in the Rochelle area around 1876. Rommereim is the farm name in Norway and they may have been also using last name of Johannesen. The family had 1 child Martha born in 1877. It appears they did not purchase land and may have worked or lived on land owned by someone else. The family left the Rochelle area in 1880 for Beresford, SD. Thanks, Scott Thompson

According to various sources, the George Shiess family(multiple spellings for this name!) left Washington Co., MD approximately 1855 for Buffalo Grave (now Polo), Ogle Co., IL. The family consisted of George, Sophia (wife), and four children; one child, Mary Jane was apparently born in Polo in 1856. This farm family must have lived in this area until approx. 1859-1860 when they moved to Iowa. The family were Lutheran. The eldest daughter Susan (born c1840, MD), married Abraham Cox, who may have also lived in the Ogle Co. area before moving on to Iowa with the family. I am attempting to trace this Abraham Cox. Since this is mid-1850s, I am not certain what records, if any, may exist for this period of time that would facilitate finding this elusive Abraham. If anyone has any ideas for research or any information on these families, I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hi Layne, I am a descendant of Issac and Sarah ROGERS from PA and IL. I'm guessing that the John ROGERS in your document might be the son of Isaac and Sarah ROGERS, originally of Northumblerland Co, PA and then subsequently of Ogle Co, IL. (According to my information, John's birthdate was circa 1844 which would make him 46 years old in 1890.) The John ROGERS in Mary Ann's message is most likely Issac's brother, making him an uncle to John in your document. As for Valentine PAUL, this could be the grandson of Valentine PAUL and Susanna OTT from Northumberland Co, PA. He would then be the son of Valentine PAUL and Catherine REESE. (According to my information, Valentine was born circa 1840 which would make him about 50 years old in 1890.) Are there any other researchers out there who can confirm my guesses? Also, is there anyone who can tell me who John ROGERS' (son of Isaac and Sarah) wife was? Thanks, Nicci

The following affidavit concerned my great grandfather, Jonathan Long, who was trying to get more money from the government for his service in the Civil War. His claim was physical impairment. John Rogers helped him in this matter. Thought you might find this interesting. Layne (Mr.) Layne A. Holley Bartonville, IL General Affidavit (two pages) State of Illinois, County of Ogle In the Matter of The claim for Pension Jonathan Long late a private in Co. F 92 Ill. Vols Personally came before me, a Notary Public in and for aforesaid County and State, John R. Rogers, aged 46 years and Valentine A. Paul, aged 51 years citizen, of the Town of Lanark (?), County of Carroll State of Illinois, well known to me .... I am well acquainted with said Jonathan Long and have known him well for more than twenty five years last part from the time he was discharged about the last of June 1865 until about 1868 said Long lived near Shannon in said Carroll County and from about 1868 to 1873 he lived in the same town in which I lived and from about 1873 to 1878 said Long lived in the Town of Elkhorn Grove in said Carroll County and from about 1878 to the present time said Long has resided at Pine Creek in Ogle County. These places are all in the vicinity of my home. Said Long has complained of Rheumatism and Heart disease Ever since his said discharge. I do not think that he is able to perform manual labor more on account of said diseases. Said John R. Rogers and said Valentine A. Paul have been residence of the town of Brookville for many years.
