Rommereim and his wife Anna settled somewhere near Rochelle, IL in the 1870's. Johannes' brother Andrew J. Rommereim and his wife Anna also settled in the Rochelle area during the same time period. Some of Andrew's children were born in Creston, IL in the early 1880's. By the mid 1800's both families had moved to Lincoln Co., SD. I am trying to pinpoint where the families lived during their time in LEE and Ogle Counties in IL. I do not believe either families owned land, but they would have worked in farming. Federal Census. I have a land sale of Feb 1864. It is thought he died May 1864. Where did he die and where is he buried? One entry suggests Westchester Co. NY. but I don't find him there. Just for further info, here is a bit of additional info: He was in 13th Illinois Infantry, Company C, from Ogle County That may help you get the records from NARA---which I would recommend you get. I know they are kind of pricey, but probably will be worth your time and money!! Good luck! In searching the civil war burials in Illinois, I have been unable to find a record of him in the immediate counties around Ogle so far. If he was buried in Memphis I have no way to look that up. Again I suggest you write for his military records, since he was disabled he should have some type of pension record. Jim
