For now I need to put a hold on the IL Archives Death index, many wrote me, and The state has written back but it is a one person job at present. Then way it was worded at first I was hoping that more could be involved, but the Archives person had written me without being at the archives to actually know the format-- due to the holiday weekend. There are also indexes for different things pertaining to Ogle Co. such as the Naturalization index and Alms house records. I am presently working on the Pre-1916 death index for Cook County, IL, and I inquired if there are records for Ogle, which there are. I have learned there there is pre-1916 death records also. Below is a portion of the letter I received from the Archives. --------------------------------------- We do have Ogle County death records to be entered into the Pre-1916 Death Index. For counties other than Cook County, we are currently looking for volunteers who have Internet access as well as access to a microfilm reader. We normally send microfilm copies of original death registers or certificates to the volunteers and they enter the data from the microfilm into the online data entry form on the Illinois State Archives Web site. The data is uploaded into the main death database periodically. Laurie ~ I downloaded the site and attached it within this mailing where you may order the Civil War records. I used to have forms to order these records from Atlanta, but they have since expired. It seems to be that they issue new forms every couple years and the old ones are no longer acceptable. NARA | Genealogy | Civil War Records Hope this helps. I have ordered two CW records and they have been of tremendous help. You find out the height, weight, color of hair, eyes, and skin of your ancestor. Hi List, I am entering into an area I never have gone before-- and it is not the final frontier! Although I am dealing with a possible Union Soldier from KY and this is Ogle-- I know you can help. I find what maybe my husbands g g grandfather Jesse G Daughtery with the 16th KY Cav for Union side (This is from an index on Ancestry.com) There is no pension listed that I have found. What more information can I get and where would I look? I am presently doing searches on that unit in KY-- so I will see what happens with that. So where do i go from here! South Dakota Kappenman family reunion scheduled for July 2 thru 5, 2004. It is not a complete reunion (we would need the Rose Bowl for that and then some, but there should be a good group. It starts with John and Amelia Brown Kappenman, parents of the group born in Lightsville, Blackhawk Co. IA, and South Dakota. The primary family sponsoring the reunion is the family of Willie Augustus (son of John and Amelia) and Margaret Dopp Kappenman. One of their daughters, Marge Lewis, 92 is planning to be there. Descendents of other children of Willie and Margaret will be there in force. Also expected are descendents of other offspring of John and Amelia, namely Charles Corolius (yours truly); Frank Ordway, Lorentz, Frederich, John C., Edward, and perhaps others.
