Surnames: Kitner, Crouse, Harney, McAllister, Moxon Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ih.2ADE/1153 Message Board Post: Illinois State Journal, Friday, April 8, 1927: Mrs. Mary Kitner Harney, 86, a resident of Morgan County her entire life, died at 5:10 o'clock this morning at the family home, 312 South East Street, following an illness of three months. During the last two years Mrs. Harney had been afflicted by blindness. Mrs. Harney was the last member of a well known family. Her brother, Edward Kitner, died in Springfield a few days ago and was buried here yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Harney was born in Jacksonville August 23, 1840, a daughter of Henry and Mahala Crouse Kitner, natives of North Carolina. She was married to Francis M. Harney October 3, 1859. He died March 21, 1911. They were the parents of three children, William F. Harney of Springfield, who died in 1920, Mrs. Eliza McAllister of Woodson, and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Moxon of Jacksonville, who survives. There are twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. The decedent was a member of Central Christian Church. Funeral services will be held at the Gillham f! uneral home at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon in charge of Dr. M.L. Pontius. Interment will be Diamond Grove Cemetery.
