    1. [ILMORGAN] Parents of Moses L. and Alpha M. CLAYTON?
    2. Byron D. Nelson
    3. Harry S. Clayton's great grandfather was William H. CLAYTON who married Elizabeth "Betsy" WOODS {Robert WOODS, Sarah (CLAYTON?)} at Caldwell County, Kentucky September 19, 1816. According to the Franklin City Cemetery records on line, William H., a veteran of the Blackhawk War died 1853. Moses L. CLAYTON married Alpha ("Alfa") M. (MARTIN?) CLAYTON October 3, 1844 at Morgan County. The LDS records, which may be a commingling, show the parents of both Moses and Alpha to be William CLAYTON and Elizabeth WOODS. Are there two different sets of couples with these names are is this an outright mistake? At first blush, the WOODS/CLAYTON seem to be highly intermarried but it is improbable that Moses and Alpha are brother and sister. The marriage record received from Morgan County verified that Alpha was under age (under 18) and that her father had filed written consent. That written consent was not received with the marriage record so I do not know if that is an oversight or the consent filing is lost. A William C. CLAYTON seems to have married Betsy WOODS' sister Minerva. What is the relationship between William C. and William H. CLAYTON? I believe these CLAYTONS may be related to the CLAYTONS of Calloway County, Kentucky not too far from Caldwell County. Of Calloway County a James CLAYTON and Sarah "Sally" LONGSHORE (LAUNCHER) CROW had a daughter named Alpha Elizabeth. Also a Moses CLAYTON married there a Fanny SHIRLEY about the same time as William H.married Betsy WOODS in Caldwell County. Any opinion, any knowledge? Byron Nelson Byron Nelson
