Yesterday morning was marked by the decease of Henry Kitner, who came to the Prairie State over fifty years ago, and who, ever since his removal from the south to the fertile fields of this grand commonwealth, has been regarded in highest honor by all, neighbors, friends, and acquaintances alike. He was born in North Carolina on March 26, 1817 and he lived there among the hills and the pine trees which cover them, until early manhood, when he came to the then new west. He was married to Mahala Crouse in North Carolina, in February 1837, and of the nine children born to them, six, four sons and two daughters, are living, all residing in this county. What he has left is a standing, abiding, commentary on the strict integrity and uprightness of his life. He was a man of exceptional! business ability and left a large estate accumulated by the unremitting labor of years. His death was due to heart disease. For the past two or three weeks he had been unwell and his health, which has been failing for some time, broke down completely under the repeated shocks. The end which was expected several days ago, came at about seven o'clock in the morning. The funeral will occur today at 10 a.m. from the family residence, eight miles southeast of the city. All friends are invited to attend.
