    3. The Jacksonville Area Genealogical & Historical Society charges $1.00/page for obits, they do not have PROBATE information however. Also I do not know if they charge a rate for doing research for you but I would imagine they do. It is a $1.00/page for obits when you do the research yourself, as I was over there about 3 or 4 weeks ago myself. If you are looking for obits and have the exact dates, etc. you can look get them back to 1880 I believe at the library in Jacksonville, and the first 10 copies are free of charge, and then 10 or 15 cents after that; when you do the research yourself. I have no idea what they might charge for doing research for someone; but might be working making a telephone call to them about. I would also make a telephone call to the Historical Society and the Courthouse in Morgan county if I were you, check out all your options. I went with a friend today to the Adams county courthouse to do some PROBATE research (my first time I might add) and it was a joke very unorganized in the basement, so you might be in for some real time consuming efforts if Morgan counties is the same way. Good luck. ----- Original Message ----- From: <rnichols@irtc.net> To: <ILMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, September 11, 2003 9:58 PM Subject: [ILMORGAN] Contact for Morgan County, IL research > > > > The Jacksonville Area Genealogical and Historical Society maintains a > > substantial amount of genealogical and historical matter in their > > society library. 2. Yes the JAGHS now has to charge $1 per page for obits as they have been copying all the obits onto acid free paper and organizing in binders by year/alphabetically for the convience of their customers. We have spent the last 5 years working on the obit books. Other regular copies are 25 cents a page. chatty (JAGHS vollunteer)
