I have an ancestor, William Smith married to Maria McDonald (McDaniel) and in the 1850 census Patsy (10) and Marion (9) Samples living with them. In the 1870 Census, Maria McDonald's brother John McDonald and wife Martha are living in the same household as a Theodore Samples family. There must be a connection somewhere but I haven't figured it out. Also, my McDonald family married into an Anderson family. I believe that John McDonald married Martha Anderson, and his brother James McDonald married Jeanette or Jane Anderson. I also believe that Andrew Anderson may be a brother to Martha and and Jeanette, and Andrew married an Elizabeth Cole, the sister of Malinda Cole, who married George McDonald, a brother of the two mentioned above.
