Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/Ih.2ADE/475.1 Message Board Post: I am able to add a bit more to this history. Joseph Burnett and his wife Ellen (Hamilton) moved to Kansas. They located first near Belleville,Kansas but moved on to Hodgeman county, Kansas and than moved still again to Lane county, Kansas. Their children were Elsie b.3-16-1878m. Harry Brown York,Grace Burnett d.12-6-1887,Stella b.6-25-1880 m. Willie Glunt,Leroy Burnett b.2-6-1887 m. Louise Lloyd,James C. Burnett b.2-22-1889 m. Verna Ward, Joseph Burnett,Jr b.9-11-1891 unmarried, and Eva Moneta Burnett b.10-7-1893 m.Raymond Noel Wright. Joseph's children by his first marriage also went to Kansas. Lillie b.6-20-1869 married Emerson (E.A.)Nichols, William b.3-16-1867 never married. Ellen Hamilton's father James Hamilton appears to be the James C. Hamilton on the 1860 census of Morgan county, Illianois, page 212. There is an older woman living with them so she is probably his mother. On the 1870 census page 175 he is married to a Sarah. My thought is that this is Sarah Evans that married James C. Hamilton 8-31-1863 in Morgan county according to the marriage index .She isn't the mother of Ellen, Mary or Sarah A. On the 1880 census they have many more children and are living at Mauvaise Terre, Morgan county, Illinois. I have not found James C. on an 1850 census. I don't know if he was still in Kentucky at that time or what. Has any one found who his father is? Kentucky is very full of Hamiltons. I do know that the John C. Hamilton listed in the history of Morgan county is not his father.
