Surnames: ALLAN, MUTCH, TOMPKINS, MILLION, LEWIS Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ih.2ADE/1192 Message Board Post: Obit Christina Allan Passed Away At Daughters Home (Dec. 9, 1940) Death Occurs Monday Afternoon; Funeral Services to Be Wednesday Mrs. Christina Allan, widow of the late James Allan, passed away at one-forty o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leslie Lewis, seven miles west of Jacksonville. Death followed a brief illness. Christina Olive Mutch was born in Oxford Co., Canada June 29, 1859, a daughter of Alexander and Margaret Mutch. She was united in marriage with Mr. Allan on March 14, 1878. They lived practically all of their married life on the Allen homestead seven and one half miles south west of this city. Mr. Allan passed away August 15, 1931. Four daughters and one son survive. They are: Mrs. S. J. Thompkins of Springfield, Ill., Mrs. Ernest Million of Murrayville, Mrs. Leslie Lewis of west of the city, Mrs. Allan Gordon of Lyle, Minn., James W. Allan, Lynville. There are twenty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters: John T. Mutch of San Diego; Robert Mutch, Jacksonville; Peter Mutch, Palmyra, Ill.; Mrs. Mary E. Slaughter, Jacksonville, and Mrs. Jennie Parkin of Hampton, Iowa. Mrs. Allan was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist church and as long as health permited was a faithful and loyal worker in the church and its organizations. Funeral services in her memory will be held Wednsday afternoon at one thirty at the Williamson Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Paul Dubois of Murrayville. Interment will be made in Diamond Grove Cemetery. Obit Allan Funeral Is Held Wednesday Funeral services for Mrs. Christina Allan were held Wednsday afternoon, 1:30 o'clock at the Williamson Funeral home, with Rev. Paul Dubios in charge, assisted by Rev. Gay C. White of Springfield. Mrs. Earl Hemple was the soloist, accompanied by Mrs. G. O. Webster. Floral tributes were cared for by Grace Middleton, Elizabeth Slaughter, Lorraine Allan, Verna Million and Helen Thompkins. Pall Bearers were Howard and Alfred Million, James Allan, Orville and Robert Mutch, Everett Parkin and Leroy Russell. Interment was in Diamond Grove Cemetery.
