    3. Helen, there is not much actual data from England that is on-line, like censuses and so forth, although if one of your ancestors was in a certain profession, like being a doctor or a pub owner or soldier there are actually some files on=line that are helpful. The best thing you can do is to join the county mailing lists if you know the county they lived in. My ancestors were from Yorkshire as well and sadly, the Yorksgen list is more chatty than genealogy oriented, but you will at least learn a lot about the area by joining the list. People there are very helpful and willing to go to a lot of trouble looking up census data and such. Here is the GENUKI site address: http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/ http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/ is another connection.I'll paste in some others just in case you might want to visit the sites. http://www.pro.gov.uk/readers/planning.htm http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/David_Squire/vg156fgo.htm http://www.gendocs.demon.co.uk./trades.html You can find the counties there, click on them and subscribe as usual. I have been on 5 different county lists and really enjoyed it and knowing the people on them. They were really helpful during my last trip with providing hints for researching there. The nice thing is that England is so old they have ancient records by the ton in vaults so it is really interesting looking through all the old books. A real history lesson! Hope this helps you a little. I'm happy to try to answer any questions you have about Yorkshire since I have been there fairly often and spent 1 week there doing research last October. Can't guarantee I'll have the answers but and glad to share what I learned. It was quite an experience! Sincerely, Carol Dugger

    3. Carol: Thanks you so much for your prompt response to my request for mailing list information for Yorkshire, England. Your message is very informative and helpful.. I have e-mail but so far do not have internet capabilities. I don't know either what county my ancestors were from. I certainly have a lot of research to do and appreciate the information you sent. I will keep the addresses in my file and hope to be able to use them soon. You were very fortunate to take many trips to England. I wonder if you have relatives living there now or whether your trips were for research. What a fantastic opportunity for research and to see the land where your roots began. Thank you again for your help and of your offer of future help. It is greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Helen Kirtlan-Fingado ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Juno now offers FREE Internet Access!
