Are your Chiltons from Morgan Co.? My great-grandfather Givens (1816-1868) had a half brother, William Thomas Givens Sr. (1806-1879), who lived in Waverly, Morgan Co., who had Chilton descendants who lived in Morgan Co. from around the 1900's. The first Chilton that appears is Harriet Givens (1873 - 1941) who married Lee F. Chilton (1869 1956) in New Berlin, Morgan Co. Harriet Givens Chilton was the granddaughter of William Thomas Givens Sr. (1806-1879, Waverly, Morgan Co.). I have been in contact with Harriet's grandson, William (Bill) Thomas Chilton who lives in Springfield, Illinois, this past year. Would like to know your Chilton connection as Harriet Givens Chilton had letters written between 1848 - 1885 by Givens siblings of William Thomas Givens Sr. to William Thomas Givens Sr. and his daughters. I have searched for the originals of these letters but have never been able to locate them if they still exist, not only because of the Givens but because my maternal grandfather, Edward Stephen Kasling (Kesling/Kiessling) was born in 1857 in Jackson, Morgan Co. and died in 1941 in Cass Co., Texas. Edward Stephen Kasling's wife, my grandmother, was Nancy Caroline Givens, and she was a niece of William Thomas Givens Sr. I have copies of some of the Givens letters given to me in 1965 by a Givens cousin who had received them from Harriet Givens Chilton in 1935. Would like to hear from you if you are related to Harriet Givens Chilton and her husband Lee Chilton. Have always searched for the clue as to why my Kasling ancestors left Morgan Co. prior to 1880 and came to Cass Co., Texas where the Kaslings married into the Texas branch of the Givens family.
