Dear Bill, As you search for the elusive Mulford Moore, be sure to check for similar names. I have found many errors in marriage records of that time as to spelling of names. My ancestor who married about the same time in Greene Co., for instance was Clarinda Ellen Hicks, yet her marr record clearly states her name was Clarrisa E. Hicks--an error on the part of the clerk. So look for Milford, Wilford, anything similar as you search for him. Good luck! Sarah's mother's name was Elizabeth WOOD(S). According the Census records in 1860 Sarah MILLER (8) was living in the household of Isiah and Elizabeth WOOD in Waverly Precinct (Morgan) IL. A marriage record in Macoupin Co. IL has Sarah MILLER marrying Mulford MOORE 21 May 1868. The information from the 1870 Census has Sarah MOORE and son John (1) living in the household of Hozea and Elizabeth WEATHERBEE. Mrs. Sarah MOORE married John FLOWERS, 18 March 1876. At this time Anna started living with Nicolas and Catherine SCHMUTZ(SMOOTS). The SCHMUTZ family lived in Morgan, Tazwell, and then Logan County. Anna married my ggrandfather, Charles BOY 11 Nov 1886 in Logan County. He died 30 May 1895. Anna then married Jacob NAUGLE 08 May 1896 in Logan County. By 1880, John and Sarah had started another family. Anna was with the SCHMUTZ family in Pekin (Tazwell) Illinois. With Anna's birthdate of 1872, it was unlikely that John FLOWERS is my ggrandfather. The only reference I have of Sarah's possilbe husband MOORE is the marriage record from neighboring Macoupin County. Finding my gggrandfather is a brick wall with which I sure do need some help.
