My ggrandmother, Anna Louise (MOORE?)(FLOWERS)(SCHMUTZ)(BOY) NAUGLE, was born 29 December 1872, in Jacksonville (Morgan) Illinois. Anna's mother was Sarah A. Miller, b 28 April 1850 in Michigan. Sarah's mother was Elizabeth WOOD and her father was Sylvester MILLER. According to the Census records for 1860 Sarah was living in the household of Isiah and Elizabeth WOOD in Waverly Precinct (Morgan) Illinois. A marriage record in neighboring Macoupin Co. Illinois has Sarah A. MILLER marrying Mulford MOORE, 21 May 1868. Information from the 1870 Census shows Sarah A. MOORE and John MOORE age 1, living in the household of Hozea and Elizabeth WEATHERBEE in Waverly Precinct (Morgan) Illinos. On 18 March 1876 Mrs. Sarah A. MOORE married John FLOWERS in Jacksonville (Morgan) Illinois. John and Sarah had the following known children: Gertrude, b 1878; Minnie b 1880; Emma, b 1884; Charles, b 1885; Jessie, b 1887; and Elizabeth, b 1890. On the 1900 Census, Sarah reported that she had 13 children. The 6 FLOWERS children and the two, John and Anna, born prior to the marriage to FLOWERS, leaves 5 children unidentified. With a birthdate in 1872 it is not likely that John FLOWERS is the father of my ggrandmother Anna. At the time of the marriage of Sarah to John FLOWERS my ggrandmother Anna was taken in by Nicholas and Chatherine SCHMUTZ(SMOOTS). The SCHMUTZ's raised Anna. They moved from Morgan Co. to Tazwell Co. and then to Logan County Illinois. Anna was reunited with her natural mother and her FLOWERS siblings later in life, after her adoptive mother died. If anyone in the families listed above can give me a clue of where to look next for information about Anna's father, I will be most grateful.
