John died 1886 in Concord IL. He was survived by his wife, 3 daughters, Mrs. Joseph Willard, Mrs. Olmstead and Mrs. Henry Turney; also 5 sons, John, Robert, Younger, Augustus and Leander. John, Jr. lived in Kansas, unmarried, Robert and Augustus lived in MIssouri. John and Younger were veterans of Co. K. 101st IL Inf. The village of Filson, IL, which is northeast of Arcola, is now only a few houses but once was a grain elevator serving the east central Illinois area. It was owned by J N Filson, who may have been the son, John. Margaret Filson died in Arcola 1896. She was born in Scott Co Ky to Fred and Martha Stevenson True.
