Dear Mary, I can't thank you enough for your kindness in going to the cemetery! Many thanks. I went there every year as a child -- way before I was bitten by the genealogy bug. I grew up in Litchfield Illinois, and I now live in Arizona. Lewis A. Baney and Fannie E. Sherrill were my gr. grandparents, and Harry and Mary Lucy (England) were my grandparents. Harry died long before I was born. Of the 4 grandparents, I only knew my grandmother, Mary Lucy. Unfortunately I was 9 when she died--too young to ask questions about my family. I was more interested in her big sugar cookies that she somehow made in a huge old wood cook stove! Anyway, I can't find out anything about my great grandparents--Fannie and Lewis--how they died, where they were, etc. Not one single thing. Sigh....I think the name was spelled and/or misspelled many ways over the years. It seems like there would have to be something--probate?--one child (my great Uncle Walter S. Baney) was only 5 when his Dad died and 10 or 11 when his mother died. Don't know where to look. I tried Christian County, but they don't seem too obliged to help. Warmest Regards and Many Thanks!
