Hi all A question I have and thought maybe a lot of other people have the question, too. I frequently see men's names as JNO as in Jno. McElmuny, Jr (http://www.iltrails.org/ILSettlers.html) I just saw the above at ILTRAILS.ORG but I've seen it on census listings and other places, too. Can anyone tell me what it means? To look at it, I would assume JOHN but that doesn't seem to be true always as my ancestor, James Watson, was enumerated as Jno Watson on one census. In my experience.. Jno has usually been the abbreviation for John or Johnathan.. > Hi all > A question I have and thought maybe a lot of other people have the > question, too.
