Hi listers: I have made a tiny speck of progress on tracing my gggrandparents, William Proctor JACKSON (b. 1828 England)and Martha A. BROWN (b. 1834,IL). I now know that they married in Morgan Co, Dec. 14, 1854. By the 1860 Census they had come to Scottville in Macoupin County. Also living in the house with Martha in 1860 is her mother, Catherine BROWN(b. IL) . Catherine must have died or moved away by the time of the 1870 Census in Macoupin County. William died in 1873 at the age of 45,leaving Martha a widow with at least 8 children to raise. Their names were: George W. (b. abt 1857), Sarah E. b. 1858,John b. abt 1861, Newton b. abt 1863, Charles b. abt. 1865, Jane b. abt 1866, Mary b. abt 1867 and Frances "Frankie" b. abt 1870. There were several JACKSON families in Macoupin Co. at the same time, one male, Robert, was b. abt 1831 in England, which makes me wonder if he was a brother to my William P.? He married a Rebecca and had children Samuel, Rose and Charles. I know there was another William Jackson in the county who was also b. in England, but don't believe he was related, unless more distantly like an uncle or cousin to mine. I know I have asked several times if anyone out there has any information on these families, but this is the most data I have had to help narrow things down a bit. Does anyone know who Catherine BROWN's husband may have been? Could someone do a look-up for me on the death record of William P. Jackson , Martha Jackson and Catherine Brown? Thanks, Carol Dugger Napa, CA
