The Jacksonville Area Genealogical and Historical Society accepts various things like this for their collection and also has a file of people researching names from the local area. There are some familiar surnames in the book including Fanny Scott who might be connected to Dr. Scott who gave an intersting view of his Scott family from Morgan Co, IL.. His dates are 1856 to 1936. You can use the IL State Archives online death record search for the exact date and cert # information to be able to get his death record. He was listed in the 1917 Morgan Co IL Farmer's Dircetory with a arrival date to county as 1915. Listed also under his name are wife Nannie (Briggs) and the following children Guy, Moore, Ernest, Nellie, Rosie L., Iva and Myrtle. I think Ernest may have been buried in Diamond Grove Cemetery also, there were 4 names listed in the transcription of the cemetery on MAGA's home page. The library in Jacksonville has newspapers on film if you are close enough to visit .You might also try the writing the Morgan Co Historical Society in Jacksonville who might have the old newspapers. Sorry, I don't know anything really about the family itself. Rhonda Deatherage

I believe that would be the abbreviation for Jonathon, although that doesn't make sense for James. Perhaps the census taker got the name wrong? Wouldn't be the first time! My grandfather Bennie Stuart Ferguson was the son of Milton and Minerva Miller Ferguson from the Morgan County area, although my grandfather later lived in Cass, Menard & Sangamon County. He died in 1963. Milton Ferguson's father came here from Ireland. Minerva Miller's mother was a Cleveland, and there is a DAR line there. Dont know if these are related to the Fergusons you are interested in. D. Ross
