    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Van Orman, Russell, West, Davis Nixon Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ih.2ADE/170.165.1 Message Board Post: Thanks to you, I know a good deal more about the Van Ormans[ or any of several other spellings. I am a descendant of Jerusha, daughter of Miles.. She married Joshua West and is my gggrandmother. I have a copy of the descendants of Isaac Van Ornam. I assume you were involved in compiling this. Is anything known from what country they came from? The name sounds Dutch to me...Isaac served in the Revolutionary War, I believe. Is there a record of his military experience and perhaps his parents name on his enlistment papers? My family records suggests that Miles married Charlotte Russell.

    3. Hi.. Thanks for the response. All the info that I have on your Starrett Coy is that he served with Co. I, 151st IL INF, he is listed on the Civil War Memorial in Jacksonville , he was born 23 Oct 1838, he died 25 Mar 1922 and is buried in Newman Cemetery in Meredosia along with his wife, Mary Lamb and probably, his son, Ulysses Simpson. I had a web page on Morgan Co.(and some Scott and Macoupin) Civil War soldiers for some time. I discontinued it when I moved and changed ISP's. I am looking to change ISP's again and hope to put it back up. I generally look for anything that I think other descendents would be interested in, such as a photo, anything of particular interest such as a diary, letters while he was in service, was he woulnded, etc. I would especially appreciate it if you could verify the information above, as I live in Kalama, Washington and don't get back to Illlinois very often. 2. Norm, one of my ancestors, John B. GRAY, was a Civil War soldier who mustered in from Jacksonville. I have his discharge certificate from Morgan Co., and his service and pension files from NARA. Are there other possible sources of records that I could look for covering the time of his service? I'm happy to share any of his details that you may like for your database.
