Thanks for your trouble. Good luck with your BROWNS. Don Hayes-Moline,IL.
I am researching KELLER, HOWARD, BREM. I have traced my great-grandfather, Charles KELLER to Jacksonville, 188?-189? My grandfather was born there in 1893. Nora HOWARD was married to Charles KELLER, and apparently had quite a lot of family in the area. Good luck to all Morgan Co. seekers in this new year/decade/century/millenium! I don't have any records that show this would be the same family. My James BROWN married Elizabeth AUSMUS in 1849 in Brown County. Sorry. I really, really wish I could find some other descendants of James and Elizabeth! Anna Ritterbusch who married Adam Eilers from the Cass County area. I too have Schumacher's in my line, but spelled differently than yours. I'll look through my Ritterbusch info to see if I find a Herman, but doubt that they would be related since yours lived in the Chicago area. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cathie Cox" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, January 09, 2000 11:19 PM Subject: Re: [ILMORGAN] ROLL CALL > Shirley, > > Who is your Ritterbusch? I am looking for information on my family that lived for quite some time in Jacksonville, Morgan County, IL. This is what I have so far: WILLIAM MORKEN (also referenced as Markham or Morkena) born between 1849-1857 probably in Ireland or England, but unsure. Died 4-1-1909 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery in Jacksonville. He married JOHANNA SUTTON or SULLIVAN. I could not find any marriage record in Illinois. She was born in 1858 and died 1-4-1904 and is also buried in Calvary Cemetery. Next to them is a SARAH SUTTON that is labeled "auntie" born in 1860. This could be Johanna's sister, but I am not sure. Children: Edward m. Alberta Walter b. 1891 m. Nona William never married Mary m. FW Runkel, buried in Calvary Eleanor 1883-1942 m. John Dye (my ancestors) Likely Brother to WILLIAM MORKEN: EDWARD MORKEN b. 1861 married Annie Ormond 3-4-1889 in Jacksonville, IL. He was born in Ireland and his parents were John Morken and Margaret Tierney. JOHN DYE, husband of Eleanor Morken was born in 1880 in Jacksonville, IL to Benjamin Dye and Sarah Booher (this name is spelled several ways: Bugher, Booker, Boogher, etc). Benjamin Dye married Sarah Booher in Indiana and they came to Morgan County in the spring of 1861. There is a biographical Sketch of Benjamin Dye on page 226 of 1889 Portrait & Biog. Album of Morgan & Scott Counties. This family was Catholic and belonged to the Our Savior Church on East State Street in Jacksonville. I am interested in learning more about the ancestry of the Morken/Markham and Sutton/Sullivan families. I would like to determine which name is the correct name to be looking for and what country they came from. Thanks for any advice! Katherine Johnson

Dear D.J. Harrod, I would be interested in hearing about your Jennings ancestor as listed in the Morgan County roll call. My Jennings ancestor was my g. grandmother, Emma Jennings m. George W. Burnett. They had three children together: Otis Willett, Charles Isham, b. 1874, and my grandmother, Anna C. Burnett, (b. Schell City, Vernon County, MO, on Mar. 21, 1875) m. James "Joe" Joseph Cornelius Kelly. Emma had a sister named Cordelia Jennings m. James Robert "Robert" Walter Craighead. For a time, this couple lived in Harwood, Vernon County, MO, before returning to Fulton, Callaway County, MO, where the Craighead surname is well established. The father of Emma and Cordelia, may have been Reuben Jennings. George W. and Emma Jennings Burnett are both buried in Franklin Cemetery, in Franklin, Morgan County. The Burnetts were pioneers of Morgan County, as were the family they married into: the Van Winkles. I am looking forward to hearing from you. I have much information and some pictures to share, if we can find a connection between us. Sincerely, Patricia Jordan (Kelly)
I checked my mail today and had over 40 messages from the Morgan County list with just "ROLL CALL" or "RE: ROLL CALL" as the subject line. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, put your surnames and/or other useful/relevant info in the subject line. It shows more consideration of other people's time and increase your chances of getting a response.
