I am trying to get more info on Mary Ann Palmer and John (Milton) Stark. They had a daughter named Anna Jane Stark who married Thomas Ambrose Wilkinson. Any info would be great. Thank you, Judy
Thank you so much. If I don't hear from her I will let you know, and ask for her address! Really appreciate your help! Thanks so much for your reply. I have searched the Morgan Co. site pretty completely, I think. I found the page you mentioned, and Patrick O'Flyng's name is not on it. This has me puzzled to say the least. I also cannot find his name from any of the links to the military, including DAR, which is also puzzling, as Patrick O'Flyng is listed as a REV. Soldier by the DAR. The site and other sources list Morgan County as being formed in 1823, which has always bothered me, as Patrick O'Flyng died in 1821, so how could he have died in Morgan County? He could be buried in what is now Morgan Co, that was part of Green when he died. This is what I have always figured actually happened, but his name does not seem to be listed anywhere in Morgan County, so perhaps he did die and was buried in what is now Greene. He was pensioned, we have copies of his papers, and a complete history of his service, both in the Revolution, and the War of 1812. He probably was in Illinois less than a year when he died. Thanks for all your help, but I don't seem to be getting anywhere in Morgan County! Hi List! Margaret, Can't get my web browser to come up right now or would give you a URL to look at and see if this listing is the same that you are referring to. If your browser works, go to Morgan Home Page http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmorgan/morgan.htm And find the Link titled "Morgan County Resources", I think. Can't remember the URL. This will be a Link to Norm Witherbee's page and if you scan the page you will find a Link about the Monument at the Morgan County Courthouse along with a listing of the soldiers that are displayed. As for 1821 records, Morgan Courthouse had a fire early on and all records before 1827 were destroyed with the exception of the Land records, where that book was at the home of the Recorder. Believe Morgan became a County in 1821, go to Timline Link on Morgan Home page and see. Did you check the Home page Link under Military in Morgan and check the RW link of Rev War soldiers buried in Morgan? Sometimes lists a Cemetery. Did you check the Cemetery Inscriptions that are online? Over 200 have been posted. Use the Search Engine on the Home page and it might break it down to some township cemeteries for you, if the surname can be found. I forwarded this request for information to L. Burner, who is the State DAR Email person. It is possible she knows. Also, there are a number of plaques AT the Gov. Duncan Mansion which is the Rev. James Caldwell Chapter House (Jacksonville DAR Chapter), and some of those members may recall this stone. If you need the name/address of the Regent of that Chapter, I can respond by personal email. D. Ross
I have the following photocopy from a book entitled, "Revolutionary Soldiers Buried in Illinois" by Mrs. Harriet J. Walker published by The Standard Printing Co., Los Angeles, California, 1917. Morgan Co. The Rev. James Caldwell Chapter, DAR, of Jacksonville observed a red-letter day in their history when on March 10, 1914, a bronze tablet was unveiled in memory of the soldiers of the American Revolution who lie buried in Morgan County. The exercises were held in the Circuit Court room and were alike impressive and patriotic. The tablet was formally presented by Miss Effie Epler, chairman of the Tablet Committee, and was accepted by the Regent of the Chapter, Mrs. O. F. Buffe, who in turn presented the same to Morgan County. Patrick O'Flyng was from New Hampshire. He enlisted in Cambridge Massachusetts April 1, 1775, for eight months under Capt. John Moore, Col. John Stark-----(gives more on his service) He removed to Ohio, and from there to Morgan County, Illinois, but died there soon after coming. He died October 7, 1821, aged 71 years. He was pensioned". Does anyone have any information about this plaque, or where it is located? Does anyone know where Patrick O'Flyng's grave is? He is my 4th gr. grandfather. His wife was Abigail, and he had children who lived in Green Co. Illinois, namely Abigail, wife of Martin Burt, Clarissa, wife of Jacob Young, Lucy, wife of Barnett Sherman, and Felix O'Flyng who married Parthena Orcutt/Olcott, also Enos O'Flyng who was a Methodist Minister for the Carrolton circuit. Any information of the families listed, or descendants of the above are wanted! Thanks, Margaret Behnke
Hi All, I have added a Genealogy Report on my STEWART lineage on "My Family Genealogy" Web page. There are over 200 Surnames in this report, the most common are STEWART; ENGLAND; HOLLOWAY; JONES; & RICHARDS. I have a Surname Index page as well as a page for Sources/Endnotes. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~makaylor/index.html Click on Stewart Genealogy Report. This lineage is primarily in Morgan and Macoupin Cos, but there are some Sangamon/Greene Cos. locations, too. So all of you STEWART researchers in Macoupin who are wanting Sources, etc. for Rev. John Stewart in N. Otter Township, this is the place to go :-) And some of the HAYS info that Gloria and all Hays researchers sent me are included. But not all, as not my direct lineage, wanted to keep my database smaller. This was compiled from many researchers over the years and I have tried to list those contributors. Mary Ann
I'm sorry John. After looking at your file I see that you mean Annice was born in 1814, not James. I guess I'm having a fibro fog. Bonds then married Sarah Tuggle in 1846 and had the following children: Nancy, Mahala, Malinda, George, and Elizabeth. Hi, Sorry I don't have any info on a William Hankins.I'm researching mainly the Clark's and I suspect an Elizabeth Clark may be a sibling of a James Clark(gggrandfather).I think she married a John Hankins. These people lived in Scott Co.in the 1850's-1870's. Thanks Kevin
Hi, Responding to Capps:I have an obit on a Mrs. Hardwick (Louisa Clark)that says she was the grandmother of the late Mrs.William Capps. She (Louisa)died in1902.It also said Mr. and Mrs. J.G. Capps attended the funeral.I suspect that Louisa may be a grandparent of mine but I can't prove it yet.Do these names bring a response? Thanks Kevin
Hi, The names you mentioned do not ring a bell with me.I'm looking into a Louisa Canaday who married a James Clark in 1831.Her father was William Canaday and he was from KY.Do those come to mind ?This is all I have.
Don, I don't think this is my Martha Brown as her birthdate ws June 21, 1834, DRAT!! Thanks for the attempt, however. I really appreciate the look-up. Carol Dugger
Don, I am not sure who this message was meant for, but if it was for me, I haven't any idea if this James Brown is from myggm Martha A. Brown's line. I have absolutely no information other than her name, birth and burial dates. So far as I know she had no children named James, but then you never know. Perhaps I'll go visit the Scott Co site and see if I can find her there. Carol Dugger Napa,CA Researching: DUGGER<JACKSON< BROWN

I am not related to the MERWIN name, but my STITT family named the town of Merwin, Mo. after the surveyor who plotted out the town. Mr. Merwin. This would be in Bates Co. Mo. 1870's. Patricia L. Hall Olathe, Ks. [email protected]
I haven't run across any Rayburn's yet. What year was the marriage?
Re: Jennings I have a Charlotte T. Jennings, born in TN whose father was Isham Jennings. Perhaps your Emma named her son after her father? Charlotte was born about 1827. If you think the two could be connected, I'd love to share. I have her in Fayette Co., IL, but several of that side of the family were in Fayette and back to Morgan Co., IL. Let me know.
