    2. Listmembers -- ..just finished reading the obituary of my gg aunt, ELIZABETH (WILSON) BROWN who died in Morgan County in 1900. The last paragraph states, "Interment was made by the side of her husband (THOMAS BROWN) in the village cemetery" I found several cemeteries listed for MC,I...but none were called "the village cemetery"...at least that is what it was called in 1900. Has the name changed? She and her husband were members of the Christian Church...THOMAS was a farmer...they had one son, CHARLES W. BROWN. Thank you for your attention re my request. Tom Wilson

    1. [ILMORGAN] New Items
    2. Mary Ann Kaylor
    3. A few new items on MAGA web page (Morgan Area Gen. Ass.): Trinity Church Records in Jacksonville, Morgan County. Includes baptisms, members and burials as well as a short history of the Church. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/mcch-trinity.html Additional Biographies have been added to the 1879 Macoupin County History. Surnames include BURKE; KEISER (2); MARTIN (2) and RAFFURTY. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/mac1879bios.html Two more Family Web pages have been added: Peggy Riggs Kopps' Family Tree http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~peggyriggskopp/ Sharon Holt Byers - Byers Family Page http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Cabin/6005/ An additional comment re the 1860 Greene Co IL Census search.......One can also use the Search Engine found on the Home page, I just tried it and it brings up the Census entries. After finding the page#'s from the search engine, then going to that page one can then use the FIND feature of their browser to locate the surname of interest. Gosh, we don't need an Index <g>. 1. [ILMORGAN] Christian Home for the Aged
    2. Julian Francis
    3. I'm trying to find more information on the former Christian Home for the Aged (now known as the Barton W. Stone Christian Home). My GGgrandmother (Nancy Francis) lived her remaining days in the home and is buried on the grounds. She died 28 May 1914. Does anyone know the history of the home? Nancy came to the home from Bolckow, Andrew County, MO and I cannot figure out how she ended up there. I'm in Pennsylvania and have never been to Jacksonville, so I'm not familiar with the area. Thanks in advance for any help! Julian Francis [email protected]

    3. Julian, I know that the Barton W. Stone Home, as it is known now, is an institution affiliated with the denomination I belong to, the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, and is supported by our churches. I am under the impression that it is for retired ministers and their spouses, and perhaps the use of church members needing care. If you would like, I can obtain a brochure on the home from my church office and mail it to you. Our denominiation's regional office in Bloomington, IL may have info on it's history and who to contact there for more information, and I can get that number to you as well. 1. [ILMORGAN] 1860 Greene Co. Census
    2. Mary Ann Kaylor
    3. The 1860 Greene County Census is online now on the ILMAGA page. This does not yet have a surname index. I am working on an everyname index which hopefully will be online soon. In the meantime, you can use the FIND feature on your browser to locate a surname. There are several pages on one Web page, so you might find this VERY useful until there is an index. Go to MAGA home page and then to Greene County Link. http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/index.html Mary Ann -------------------------------------------------------- Mary Ann Kaylor & Shirley Aleguas In IL - Morgan Area Genealogical Association & Waverly GHS http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmaga/index.html Dedicated to Free Online Resources from Central IL MAGA Mailing List: [email protected] My Family Genealogy http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~makaylor/index.html
