A big THANK YOU to everyone on the list who has been so helpful to me in my search for the above named ancestors. I appreciate all the help and the interesting conversation and great hints and stories I've received while being a list member. I must stay off the computer for several months while my hand surgery gets taken care of and rehabilitated so computer time will be very limited and I will be very bored! :) Thanks again and I'll be back when I am better! Beverly ROBINSON was born 15-Sep-1800. Various records show him born in Amherst, Campbell, Frederick or King William Counties, VA. He married Sarah Elizabeth TAYLOR on 11-Jul-1820 in Green Co., KY, and they moved to Newton Co., MO, in 1838. According to some histories, they may have lived in Morgan Co. IL, prior to moving to Missouri. At first I had his father as John Robinson, b. ca 1738-1739 in St. George, Spotsylvania Co., VA, but now believe it more likely that he was Col. Beverly Robinson, b. ca 1767 in King William Co., VA. Does anybody have any information of Beverly Robinson, where exactly he was born, and who his father was, and if he actually lived in Morgan Co., IL? As always, will be happy to share any info I have. John

Hi List Members Would some kind soul please tell me if the book "Morgan County Gamily History", a 1976 Bicentennial project, has the surnames SMART, MASTER or LEMASTER listed? Dear Ann, I think we have corresponded before, but am not sure, so I will just double check to make sure you are aware that there is a short bio sketch on Hanna Peters family, including mention of Hanna's 2nd husband, William A. Berryman, on p. 255 of the book, MORGAN COUNTY FAMILY HISTORY, 1976. If you need further info, just contact me directly. Juli Claussen
Every so often I write again to find out if anyone has any information about the BERRYMAN Family that lived along the Morgan/Macoupin County line during the mid-19th Century? Later on, descendants reportedly lived in Jacksonville. The second wife of William Berryman was my husband's gg-gm Hannah Peters (Nall), about whom I know virtually NOTHING! How about Hannah PETERS and her family, who reportedly arrived in IL from KY about 1830? Hope to hear some good news. Ann McReynolds-Nall, St. Louis

Posted on: Morgan Co. IL Query Page Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Morgan/266 Surname: ------------------------- I've found the following on Nicholas Featherkile of Morgan Co.: He died in 1837. 4 of the daughters and son George were still in Morgan Co. in 1850. I haven't found the James's yet. Found the following about Thornton Sheppard: "... preached in the Primitive Baptist Church for forty-nine years. In Illinois he ministered to four churches, walking twenty miles in order to cover his pastoral territory and receiving no pay for preaching or attendance. He did the same work in what are now Cass and Greene Counties, and at the Pisgah Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, in Morgan County, of which the family are still members."

Has anyone heard a story about a doctor being killed in March of 1917 (or there abouts) when he was driving a horse and cart and had an accident? It was probably around the Jacksonville area. My grandmother has a few stories on why she had to file a delayed birth certificate and this is the newest one. I was just wondering if anybody had ever heard this story. Thanks for any help. Sheri

IL Query Page Board URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Morgan?read=258 Surname: MATHEWS, RUBERTS, TAYLOR ------------------------- Richard Mathews, Sr. and his wife Sarah Taylor were among the early settlers of Morgan County. Their daughter Ann Taylor Mathews married Milton Byron Ruberts/Rubarts about 1825. County marriage records began in 1827, so the marriage doesn't appear in County records. These folks came from Kentucky. Interested in any information on these 3 families.
