Actually there are many of us that did not know how to post pictures and obits. So personally speaking I think this conversation was very helpful. Jacque Patton California
I agree. A little learning may still be needed by many not up to speed with technology. Karen who has a scanner but has never used it nor read the instructions... :) > Actually there are many of us that did not know how to post pictures and > obits. > > So personally speaking I think this conversation was very helpful. > > Jacque Patton > California
Hi Kay. Thanks for your response. I do have a scanner and obviously don't know where to go from there. I didn't think anyone received my inquiry as I got a message about HTML and needed to turn it off to send message to list. I thought I had done that one time but don't remember how to do it now. So, guess I will just give up due to ny ignorance> Wish my brain was as good as it was 50 years ago. I have a death certificate for my g. g. grandma Fannie Ann Crockett who lived and died at Concord. Also have 8 x 10 picture of her and husband, James Richard Campbell. Thanks again. Well, I am a granny too, and I learned to use and enjoy my scanner. You cannot send scanned pictures, obits etc. to the list. This requires making an attachment, and Rootsweb will not accept attachments. You can send them to individuals on the list, or relatives etc. I have found the easiest way to send a scan as an attachment is to scan the item, then when it comes time to save it,(click on "save as", save it to your desktop, in JPG, sometimes called Jpeg format. An icon will appear on your computer screen.... Then you can open up a new email, and simply drag the little icon that is your scan into the email..address it and mail it.It will still be on your desktop, it just makes a copy of it... You can then drag the icon into a folder and save it in a special folder called "my scans" or something similar. The directions that come with your scanner may make it sound difficult, but it is usually pretty easy....just follow directions! If I can help you work your way through it, drop me a note, but every scanner works a little differently. Give it a try, and here is a hint. When you think you have it accomplished email it to yourself! You can check it out that way to see if it worked! Shouldn't these personal messages be sent to individuals, not the list? ----- Original Message ----- From: <ROSKAYBEB@aol.com> To: <ILMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, July 13, 2003 9:28 AM Subject: [ILMORGAN] Sending obits & pictures to list > Hi Elaine, from another not too bright granny, do you have a scanner? This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/5519/Ih.2ADE/1130 Message Board Post: Samuel Smith was born in Wilkes Co. NC in 1803 the year his folks, Jesse and Eliizabeth Smith moved to Cumberland co., KY. He married there to Dorothy Hull, daughter of Moses and Elizabeth Hull. The Smiths moved with several Hull, Crouch families to Morgan Co in 1835 where most of the children were born, some in Macoupin. I would like to contact a descendant of Logan or one of the other Smith siblings. There was a short biography on Samuel Smith in a Morgan Co. biography....naming sons as doctors in the county.
Hi Elaine, from another not too bright granny, do you have a scanner? You have to have a scanner to scan your papers items, then send them on the computer. Kay B.
