Theresa, Do you know if he lived in the Irving area of Montgomery County? I have a John Brown, s/o of David Deadrich & Catherine Cress. He was the son of John Brown & Martha Elkins. The John above was born in 1836 in Montgomery Co., IL.. David was born in Knox Co., TN and his father, John was born in Baltimore, MD about 1758. His father was Peter Brown b: in Edinburgh, Scotland abt. 1738. Let me know if this is the one you are talking about. The first John Brown was my gr gr gr gr grandfather. One of his daughters by his first wife married my gr gr gr grandfather John Roberts. John & Alice Roberts were the parents of John Corwin Roberts, my gr gr grandfather. He and his brother Peter and two sisters, Mary & Nancy came to IL with their Brown cousins around the mid 1830's after John died in 1836. Apparently his widow, 2nd wife didn't want the 4 kids from a previous marriage. I am interested in them going to Texas. Peter and his family went to TX about 1880 and settled in Sherman Co. TX and John Corwin had a son that moved to Kaufmann Co., TX about that time. I was recently in Sherman Co., TX and got some info on not only Peter Roberts but also a James Thompson Brown. I haven't been able to link him with my family yet, but I'm missing a lot of links. I would love to hear from you. Joyce T.
