Walshville in Montgomery Co is 6 miles east of Mt Olive in Macoupin Co. I garantee it.<g> I have the cemetery listings for Mt. Olive and I can't find him for any of the Mt Olive cemeteries. He may be unmarked. Myra, I did find a son of Frank Firley in Benld City Cem. Benld is about 5 miles northwest of Mt Olive. FIRLEY, Louis s/o Frank 2 May 1869 - 8 Jun 1951 m. 4 Dec 1892 w/Ida J. (ZIMMERMAN) 3 Sep 1870 - 27 Sep 1959 Myra said she had maybe part of the obit and was going to contact the Mt Olive newspaper for the full obit. The Mt Olive Herald newspaper is on microfilm at the local library, just for Myra's information. MT. OLIVE PUBLIC LIBRARY 111 W. Main Mt. Olive, IL 62069 Phone: 217/999-7311 Fax: 217/999-7311 Director: Janice Thimsen Hours: Mon. and Wed. 10:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. Tue. and Fri. 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Closed Thurs Sat. 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. This library has the Mt. Olive Herald on microfilm from 1892 through 1989, History of Macoupin County 1763-1879; Story of Macoupin County 1829-1979; Pictorial and Biographical History of Macoupin County, 1911; and History of New Douglas 1860-1987 are part of the collection. They have several books on the life and speeches and letters of Mother Jones. Mt Olive would have been the closest newspaper but an obit could have run in Staunton Macoupin Co and Litchfield Montgomery Co. I did a search for Firley in the phone dir for all of IL. I didn't find any in the area, so if the following people had children they may have been girls and there could still be Firleys in the area. This is a wild guess.
