Living in Census Dist. 22, Montgomery Co 1850 (US Census). Purchased 40 acres of public land 02/01/1851, Montgomery Co., at NESE Sec 28,Twp 07N,Range 05W,Meridian 3. Several years ago, my father located this property near Sorento. Can anyone on the list verify the locale? Property and adjacent acreage deeded to him by his mother and uncle Gov Wm BISSELL jointly on 15 Nov 1850 was sold by administrators of estate on 21 Feb 1855. (Deed of Sale). The deed of sale named his residence as Macoupin Co. at time of death. The IRAD System couldn't locate any will or other probate records in Montgomery Co. nor record of death in Macoupin Co coroner's files. Does any one on the list have access to newspaper archives in both counties where you could (would?) look for Herman's obituary, then copy and send to me,please? I will pay for all expenses, of course. I'd also like to have a copy of the obit for Herman's wife Mary on Sept 25, 1853 or 1858. Thanks ever so much. Robert Bissell in CA.
