Polley, here is a web site to give you some information on the regiment. By the way, civilwararchive.com has information on all the regiments. The web site is http://www.civilwararchive.com/Unreghst/unilif10.htm#117th To get the actual record of your ancestor, go to the Illinois State Archives web site http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/arc_home.html Go to "Search online databases". This will give a listing of databases for all Illinois veterans (including the Civil War). Click on the link and search for your ancestor's basic information. With this information, you can actually order from the Archives his actual muster record. I hope this helps. My ancestor, John Brown White was mustered in as chaplain in 1864. I am seeking photos of the regiment or anything associated with their campaigns.
