John Jefferson Scherer's father was Dr. Eli Sherer, native of Cabarras Co., NC. He was married 3X and died in 1844 when Jack was 7. He was living in Irving at the time. Jack did not want to live with his step-mother, so he went to live with his uncle. This information comes from a transcribed newspaper article of Jack's memories.
