Hello, I am trying to find any available information on my great grandfather, James Knox Davis, who was born in Illinois in 1846. The information I have found thus far shows he was married in Montgomery County on 01 Feb 1866 to Sarah F. Ford. The next information I have is from the 1880 census and shows them in Santa Clara, Ca. In 1872 they had a son (my grandfather), Benjamin B. Davis. Any Information would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Don Davis

Do you know who James K. Davis parents were? I am looking for the parents of Prudence Davis b-1833 who married James Carriker in Montgomery County, in 1844. I think her father was Elijah Davis. Dear Don and other Davis researchers; Walter R. Sander's helpful list of "Settlers in Montgomery Co., Ill previous to 1840" has many Davis' listed. His list indicates birth place, approx. birth date, and counties or states the family lived in prior to Montgomery Co. He garnered this info from all the earliest Montg. Co. records available to him, including Bible recs. An asterik indicates the family was found in another county after being listed once in Montg. Co.
