Golden married Lavina Chastan on 1/23/1877 in Pope County. (IRAD record). 1870 Pellonia Post Office, Massac County, Illinois, page 300b. Hickman M. Golden 30 farming Alabama Mary F. 33 keeping house Alabama Charles A. 8 AL Margaret C. 6 AL Emma 5 AL There are some trees at ancestry with Hickman Golden. According to most of them, his first wife was Mary Francis Chastain, sister of his 2nd wife. One of these trees also remarks that Emma died at 2 days old so I'd take the information posted with a grain of salt. They have birth/death dates for Hickman as 8/11/1839 and 4/13/1897 buried in Otterbein Cemetery in New Liberty, Pope County, Illinois. Lynne

    1. RE: [ILMONTGO] HOW TO DO--GET OBITS
    2. Almost every newspaper in existence has a web site, or next bet is a library in the area the paper is in. Cyndis List is always a good place to start to get links to different sites. The "NO Frills" UrL is http://www.Cyndislist.com/nofrills.htm If you want a particular state, take that two letter abbreviation of the state and change the last part of the address, for instance, her site for California would be: http://www.Cyndislist.com/ca.htm; for Illinois, http://www.Cyndislist.com/il.htm, etc. Pat Hansen -----Original Message----- From: dorac [mailto:dorac@comcast.net] Sent: Saturday, August 02, 2003 5:09 PM To: ILMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ILMONTGO] HOW TO DO--GET OBITS Does anyone know how to get obits. from the Obituary Daily Times and what is one's obligations and cost????? http://www.rootsweb.com/~obituary/ I would appreciate the help. 1. [ILMONTGO] George H.Caldwell
    2. Lynne, Thanks for the info on the 1910 census record in Pope Co., IL, for the family of William A. CALDWELL. By the 1920 Census, William A. was deceased, Claud had moved from the Pope Co. area to?, Bessie married and moved to MO, Lula was working at the Jacksonville State Hospital, as was Effie. George H. was supposedly living in the area, but I cannot locate him. I have been unable to find William and family in the 1900 census of Pope Co., so it would be great if you came across the family. Thanks so much, Regina

    1. [ILMONTGO] George H. CALDWELL
    2. Looking for anyone with info on a George H. CALDWELL, b. 1893, New Liberty, IL, who died in Litchfield, Montgomery Co., IL, on 9-23-1942. I believe he may be the brother of my Grandmother, Bessie CALDWELL OWENS. Other family members include Claud CALDWELL, Lula Belle CALDWELL VEDDER, and Effie CALDWELL DONALDSON. Their father and mother were William A. CALDWELL and Emma R. GOLDEN, from New Liberty, Pope, Co. IL. George was the informant on his father's death certificate in 1916, and it said he was living in Jacksonville, IL, at the time. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Regina

    1. Re: [ILMONTGO] RECORD/RECKERD SURNAME
    2. Juli Claussen
    3. Dear Patty, If his death occurred bet. 1855-80, there would not likely be an official death record---just too early. And without a specific date, it would be pointless to search for an obit or news item about his death. I have had good luck in these difficult cases finding a probate file. Look for one in Montgomery Co. There should be an index that can be checked for it, and the index and the actual records may be available on LDS films so you could do it yourself. Usually somewhere in the probate file a mention will be made of the date of death, the heirs to the estate and their location, and listing of minor children with ages for purposes of establishing guardianship. I have found grown daughter's married names and where they lived this way. They can be a treasure trove of info for the genealogist. Would list any real estate owned by the deceased, and list personal possessions and their value, and who purchased what at an estate sale. This gives you the names of neighbors and an idea of the person's primary occupation and socio-economic status. If you find a probate file and get a date of death, then you can ask the IL State Historical Lib to check for a newspaper item about it. If he died tragically, there might be a news item. Good luck, Juli Claussen Search & Genealogy Services ----- Original Message ----- From: <gtfetch@juno.com> To: <ILMONTGO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, August 01, 2003 8:57 AM Subject: [ILMONTGO] RECORD/RECKERD SURNAME > My great grandfather, CHRISTOPHER(CHRISTFORD) RECORD appears in the 1850 > Montgomery County census, Eastfork tnshp. along with wife NANCY(Gibson) > and children.
