    3. I am heading to Litchfield/Hillsboro Friday to do some research on my family (Nelson/Wright/Lynn). Any good words of wisdom? I have been there once and been to the library, but am planning on returning Last time I was there, I had just begun the research and was not able to get a lot of information. Can you take a laptop into the library in Litchfield? I remember the room is locked and that you can't take a purse, but I don't remember about a laptop. Does the Litchfield library have an index for the newspapers or do you have to scroll page by page to find if your ancestors are in the paper? I know the Hillsboro library has a limited index, but wondered about whether there was a better index. Thanks for any encouraging words! 3. I noticed on your web site you were wondering who the parents of the infant son born in 1820 to S & F Landers is. Simon Landers and Francis Reavis are the parents of the infant. I have never been able to find proof of who Simon's parents were. A fellow Landers researcher with much more information on the Landers than I have has told me she thinks his father was James. Simon was born Sept 30, 1803 Kentucky and died Jan. 30, 1866 and is buried in Grassy Ridge Cemetery, Bloomington, McLean County, Illinois. I have not been able to find a trace of Frances since the 1850 census. She also submitted an article titled "Harris" to the Bulletin of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon Co., NC, Vol. X, #3 (Aug. 1982) and #4. Both articles contain excellent information about this HARRIS family. I am missing some of the pages from the Old Tryon Co. Bulletin, Vol. X, #4. 2. In the 1870 census of Montgomery County resided the following family. J.M. Brown, Sarah Brown both age about 33 born TN. J.H. Brown, male age 3, b. IL S.E. Brown, female, age1, b. TN Martha Koffman age 5 b. Georgia The Brown family left Illinois about 1875 and moved to Texas. No further record has been found of this Martha Kaufman/Koffman/Coffman. Could someone please tell me what cemeteries are located in Audobon Twp and if there could be a Coffman girl buried there? Sarah Brown's maiden name was Coffman. We think this may have been a child of hers before her marriage to Joseph M. Brown in 1866 Knox Co., TN. Thanks for any help. Loretta

    3. This is in reply to Mimi's (wallyjakeandme@msn.com) posting to this list today titled "Hello." I am twice descended from both the HARRIS and LANDERS families. Furthermore, I also have a copy of the book "Goodnight Family in America", Fourth Edition - Part One of Volume II, by Lola BUTLER JONES, which includes a lot of additional LANDERS information. The LANDERSes in the Montgomery Co., IL, area are descended from Catherine GOODNIGHT LANDERS who came to America with her father's family, Oct. 1752, on the ship "Neptune." Incidentally, in case you are not already aware of it, President Harry S. TRUMAN was a direct descendant of Catherine's father Hans Michael GOODNIGHT and Hans Michael's second wife, Mary LANDERS, daughter of Christian/Christopher LANDERS/DANDIS/LANDYS. For more information on Harry TRUMAN's line, see the following site: http://genforum.genealogy.com/goodnight/messages/210.html My HARRIS lines are: possibly William HARRIS Isaac HARRIS Wooten HARRIS William B.
