    3. I have never heard of Bostick Cemetery. But according to a book put out by the Montgomery Co Genealogical Society with listings of 4 Irving cemeteries, Ezra Bostick is buried in McCord (aka Old Bear Creek) Cemetery. On page 10 for McCord Cemetery there is a listing of Veteran's Honor Roll. EZRA BOSTICK is listed as dying 1 ____ 1843. The following has an interesting observation of EZRA BOSTICK and is from an article found in the 1873 Hillsboro Democrat, "Log Cabin Hillsboro" by Judge Hiram Rountree entitled "Linn Knoll Settlers". Benjamin ROSE, having made a settlement at the "Linn Knoll", or near Brush Creek, other settlers soon flocked in, including George H. ANDERSON, Robert MANN, his son, John (all of these are dead now) Mark RUTLEDGE, who lives now near Audubon, William KNIGHT, John BOSTICK, James GRANTHAM, James WILEY, --all estimable men. All are gone now except Mark RUTLEDGE. George H. ANDERSON's family was quite large. All that are left of his family are William, John, and George ANDERSON, Mrs. Wm. LINXWILER, and Mrs. TURNER, many of whom reside in Christian county and all worthy sons and daughters of a worthy sire. Mr. ANDERSON's wife was a daughter of Robert MANN, who is also long since dead. His son, Robert MANN, died early, leaving several children, of whom Robert MANN resides among us, as well as the wife of Esquire BURNS of Hillsboro and Henry MANN, of near Donnellson. Like the father, Robert MANN, John MANN was a good, intelligent, upright man. We believe John MANN had one other daughter, whose name we cannot now remember, and that she lives now in Bond county. William KNIGHT, with his wife and most of his family, is now dead, and we believe he leaves only his sons, John and Lowry KNIGHT, of Irving. John BOSTICK and his aged father, EZRA BOSTICK, the later of whom fought in the battles of the Revolution, have also gone to their long home. James WILEY too has gone home, as well as his father, Aquilla WILEY, and nearly all the members of the older branch of the WILEY family are dead, though all leave descendants among us, and, what is remarkable in a family, their name is a passport for them, in this section. No one questions the integrity of their name. How the thoughts of other years roll up the early scenes of simplicity and sincerity. Speaking of EZRA BOSTICK recalls one of the first pairs of cruthces we saw in this section, in the hands of that patriot, soldier and patriarch, EZRA BOSTICK, who in his later years, needed their support. _________________________________________________________________ Add MSN 8 Internet Software to your current Internet access and enjoy patented spam control and more. Now that they have begun cleaning Bostick Cemetery, by the way it looks soooo much better already, do you suppose there is family out there somewhere that might know what area of the cemetery Ezra Bostick is buried? I would think he is probably buried near the back on the right side, since many of the Bosticks are there. Do you suppose there could be a fund raiser to get stones for he and Druscilla. 3. Dear Dora, I know I can get you the obits from the Edwardsville paper at Morris Library here on the SIU Carbondale campus. I live at Carbondale. I'm not sure about the other 2 papers, but they are probably there. Morris has the largest collection of southern Illinois newspapers on microfilm around, and from the earliest years. They also have the major IL papers such as the Chicago ones, which are indexed. It is a wonderful resource. They also have the major IL papers such as the Chicago papers, which are indexed. Unfortunately, the staff will not do look ups for those who cannot visit the library themselves. However, this is not one of the volunteer services I normally provide, because it is such a hassle to go on campus, so expensive for parking, etc., and ends up being rather time consuming. My charge for newspaper searches (articles and obits) with a date or narrow date range: 1st search, $10; each additional, $3. I will digitally photograph the item for you in most cases, which can then be sent to you immediately via email. There are other wonderful resources at Morris, including most of the Germans to America volumes, the Passenger and Immigration Lists Bibliography series, and early county history books of the region. There is even a collection of early atlases and plat maps for IL counties, many of which provide the property owner's names and show the location of buildings on the property. Digital photos of these work well. I am available to do look-ups in any of these books (with a date or narrow range of years for an individual or family group in the ship passenger volumes) at the same rate as above. I am always willing to negotiate on large projects or swap research time. Montgomery County resources in which I volunteer to do lookups include Walter R. Sander's wonderful list of earliest settlers in Montgomery Co., IL and the Montgomery County Rural Schools Locations List. I have also posted an inventory of Lemen aka Baptist aka Mt. Kingston Cemetery near Walshville that my Dad and I made a couple of years ago on line at http://www.interment.net/data/us/il/montgomery/kingston.htm I have a few photos of stones from that cemetery that I am happy to share as well. 1. Re: [ILMONTGO] Claude CARLOCK (1918 - 1986) of Nokomis, IL
    2. Lynne Evans
    3. In regards to the Lewey Carlock (44) on the 1930 census. I found what appears to be him in 1910 and 1920. In 1910, he is living in the household of Thomas Barker in Audubon TWP, Montgomery County. He is 24 yrs. old and listed as a son-in-law. He is married to Maybel, age 21, born in Arkansas. In 1920 Lewis and Mabel are living in separate households but their marital status is M. Neither of them has children living with them. If Carl, Claude, and Pauline are children of these 2 they are no where to be found on the 1920 census. I searched by name, age, county, grandparents, the works. No children anywhere. Louie is living in Hillsboro, MC. He is working as a teamster and living in the household of Bert McCaslin. Mabel is living in Witt, MC. She is working as a servant in the household of Frank Waharick. Is it possible that the children on the 1930 census are actually children of what appears to be Lewis's 2nd wife--Clara? I went and looked at the actually census info and all the children have Illinois as their mother's place of birth. Mabel Barker has Arkansas listed as her place of birth on the 1910 and 1920 census. Lewey also has that he was a WWI veteran. If memory serves me, WWI was in full swing when Carl (1916) and Claude (1918) were born. I have a feeling that Lewis went off to war and when he returned, he and Mabel split up. That is why they are not living in the same household in 1920. By 1930, Lewis had remarried to Clara. I would say their first child together was Dale in 1925 and then Donald in 1928. This is all conjecture but there is no Claude Carlock on the 1920 census. Lewis and Mabel are not living together in 1920 and neither has children with them. It could be proven by locating birth and marriage records for Claude J. if it's really that important. If he is Clara's son by a previous marriage, his real father would be listed on either of those records. Lynne
