    3. Elaine, The courthouse in Hillsboro didn't burn. The one in Coles county did around that time but not in Montgomery County. She should have been able to get it. I would say your best bet would be to start at the old courthouse, just go to the county clerks office in the old courthouse and they will be able to show you where the birth, death , and land records are and then in the new courthouse at the circuit clerks office for chancery and probate records. The Hillsboro public library also has a good genealogy dept as does Litchfield library. 1. Re: [ILMONTGO] Looking for a researcher
    2. Judy--I am looking for the following things: 1--Sarah Jenkins Brown (b. 6/30/1819 d. 5/25/1902)and George William Brown, Sr. (b. 7/9/1819 d.12/5/1903) were married 6/3/1841. They lived in Hillsboro & had 6 children. They divorced & he married Amanda Morton of Nokomis. They had a child, Thomas M. Brown, born 1871. After marrying Amanda, moved to Nokomis to farm her inherited land. Would like to find out: Date of divorce & reason for divorce (if given), date of marriage to Amanda. Divorce was not common back then--I wonder if there was a special situation. Amanda was 20 years younger. Also--date of death for 4 of their children--Charles Oswell Brown, James Alzare Brown, Sarah Camilla Brown Keithley (Mrs. H.H.), Abner Yates Brown I have birth years for them. 2--I would like to get a copy of the obituary printed in the Montgomery News (films are in the library. Look at the newspaper that was printed around the time of their deaths. I know the library does not have all the films--but hopefully they have the ones with this information.) of Eliza Bayly (Bailey) Brown, wife of Nicodemus Brown. She died 2/28/1885 3--Copy of Nicodemus Brown's obituary. He died 10/11/1876. Securing this infor will definitely put some major pieces to a puzzle together! I will be greatly in debt to you for this info! Do you want me to send you a SASE w/ $ for the copies? Let me know. I really appreciate your help! Polley
