Hi, If anyone has access to cemetery records, I would appreciate your assistance. I've checked the listings on the Montgomery Co. genweb page, and expected to find most of these folks in Donnellson Cemetery, but did not. They all lived in the SW part of the county. John Harrison (don't know his dates, except that he married Julia Claussen in 1866, so his death was after that. She's buried w/o him in Traylor Cem.) James D. Young and wife #2, Susan (or Thekla) Claussen Young. James b. aabt. 1810, died sometime after 1857; Susan b. abt. 1824, died sometime aft. 1857. His first wife, Martha, is bur. in Donnellson Cem. James D. and Susan's son: Henry Young, b. abt. 1859. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. If you have other info on these folks, please contact me. Juli Claussen Carbondale, IL

It's worth looking up as the book has plat maps of Montgomery CO as it appeared in 1874, showing exactly where our ancestors' land was located and who their neighbors were (sometimes you can see the genesis of courtship and marriage!). The editor is Brinks.
Several people have asked me whether it was still possible to get a copy of this book, which was reprinted by the Montgomery County Historical Society. I checked with them, and the answer is that all their copies are gone. I didn't ask specifically, but I'd suspect that if they had many requests, they'd consider reprinting it again: Historical Society of Montgomery County, C/O City of Hillsboro Hillsboro, IL 62049 And if you get the opportunity, I also recommend a tour of their Solomon Harkey House, build in 1834. I have received birth certificates from IRAD and Juli is quite right - it does take a few weeks. You may search and request marraige, birth and death certificates on-line. The state web site will give you complete instructions on where to send requests and the costs. The forms are printable also. You may find out more at this website: Marriage Search or www2.sos.state.il/cgi-bin/marraige Marilyn Strowmatt Kailua, Hawaii Searching NIMMONS, BREITWEISER, POPELAR, SIEVERS, STROWMATT, FANNING, GREENWOOD, WILSON
Dear William, One way is to send for it from IRAD, allowing several weeks for them to get it to you. IRAD for Montgomery Co. has marriage records from 1821-1905. There is little or no charge. The address is Illinois Regional Archives Depository, LIB 144, University of Illinois at Springfield, P.O. Box 19243, Springfield, IL 62794-9243. Write them with what you want or phone in your request at (217)206-6520, 9 am to 5 pm. You can also send for it from the County Clerk's office, but you will be charged, probably around $10. This same IRAD has the death record you want for 1900 from Macoupin Co. For the 1948 death record, I believe you can get this through the state somehow, try their state archives website for more info. Juli Claussen

Bob, Here's a breif outline of my Davis connection but I really don't have alot of info on them either, the line I need just seems to have vanished and the ones I can find, I can only locate partial info on. My husbands G-Grandmother was Effie Davis Sammons wife of Charles Sammons, daughter of John Israel Davis and Rebecca Ann E. Davis Morris (Rebecca Daivs was first married to Thomas Morris in 1856 and later in 1864 to John Davis). John was the son of Joseph Davis and Polley, the mother of Joseph was Elizabeth. This is about all I have right now. Sorry I don't have more on this line but I'm working on all lines on my husband's side and mine at once. Confusing at times! I don't know if this would be of any help to you , but there was a Mary Rowe that lived on I believe the street was Klar street in Schram City. I remember her because my ggrandfather Hampton had a room in her home. I don't know if it is the same line you are searching for. She was a wonderful lady that a visited often while growing up. I remember she passed away before we moved from Schram in 1962. She had a large home and alway kept a very large garden going. She was a heavy set woman that laughed all the time. My mother may be able to tell me more if you think this is the line you are searching for. Nina [email protected]
