    3. First of all thank you to all who sent me the access to the Montgomery county site. At that site, the History of Montgomery county mentions that it was settled by many who served in the War of 1812. Is there a list of War of 1812 pensioners or land bounty petitioners? My Davis line appears to have arrived about this time. My research lines in Montgomery county are Davis, Holbrook, Caulk, Voyles. Thank you. Bob Drennan

    3. Bob, did you try the Illinois State Archives web site? Go to http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/arc_home.html, click on "Search our online databases", and you will get a page which shows all the military databases (among others) they have, which includes the War of 1812. Clicking on that link will allow you to search for your ancestors by name. 1. [ILMONTGO] Roll Call
    2. Hi, List: Good idea. . . Here are my names. . .all lived in Litchfield in the 1890s. RHODES, Thomas ROGERS, Margaret, Jennie, Julia, Mary Margaret Rogers and Thomas Rhodes were sister and brother. In 1893, Thomas Rhodes owned the Rhodes Opera House, which seated 800. Sister Margaret moved to Litchfield to be near him after the death of her husband, Thomas Rogers, year unknown. I have a wonderful letter dated 1893 from Margaret's daughter, Jennie Rogers, to her uncle, Isaac Rhodes, who lived in New Mexico. The letter is loving and thoughtful and gives much information about both families. Any descendants of the Rogers or Rhodes families out there? I know you'd love seeing Jennie's letter. Hi Bob, The Montgomery County website is at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmontgo/ and is still working. I just visited it. It can also be reached through the Montgomery Co., IL Resources page at Rootsweb http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmontgo/ but the first link on that page (that says Montgomery Co., IL Genealogy) needs to be fixed. It has the wrong address. The second one that says just "Montgomery Co IL" will get you there. And, the Montgomery Co. Genealogical Society address on that page is also outdated. It is http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilmontgo/indexmontgensociety.htm Just a few of my Montgomery Co. lines and names that married into my direct line or their siblings: *ALLEN*BALLARD*BARRY*BARTLETT*BORROR*BOSTICK*BURK*BURT*CARD*COINER* *HARRIS*HOGSETT*KELLY*LEON*MAXEY*MOSS*NEWCOMB*NICKEY*OWENS*POWELL* *STEPHENSON*TENNYSON*TINGLE*WILLIFORD*WHITE*WILLIAMS* Some of these I have very little on, others several generations. I will be happy to help anyone if I can. Sandra P. S. Sorry for the stars between the names, but the only way to keep the PML from picking it up every time a name is mentioned somewhere.

    3. To David Camp I just noticed your message - what is Manassah's last name? I have a Manassah Borror married into a branch of my family. They were from IL and migrated to Anderson County, KS around early 1860's. Other names include Mason, Norton, Rumbley, Channel, Morris & Scales. Thanks Ms. Cory Schick, OKC [email protected] #1 Re: [ILMONTGO] Camps ["David Camp" <[email protected]>] Date: Wed, 4 Oct 2000 00:11:27 -0700 Marilyn; I apologize for taking so long to answer your e-mail. I have a computer that can't read my mind and has one of its own at times. The problem is that there is a loose nut on the keyboard. Anyway, back to reality. Records show that Manassah's parent were in NJ. when Manassah was born. I had thought perhaps he went there as a veteran of 1812 war and picked up his veteran benefit for land in Illinois and departed soon after Manassah was born. If it was Hosea from Georgia. That might explain the absence of familyhistory as to family origin. I'll check out your information. I do appreciate your help. Dave Camp in Kansas ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, September 30, 2000 10:21 PM Subject: Re: [ILMONTGO] Camps Dave- Using the Ancestry Census index Hosea Camp is listed in the Bond County Federal Census 1820 (p.11) in Ripley Township, and 1820 State Census (p.18). He appear again in 1860 Federal Census in Peoria County in Brimfield Township. You should get a look at these census pages and see who else he is listed with if you are looking for other family members. There is also a Hosea Camp listed in the War of 1812 Muster Rolls. Also a Georgia Regiment. A Hosea H. Camp is listed in the Civil War Muster Rolls (Co C, 29th Mississippi Infantry). If he were serving in the Civil War, outside of Illinois, this would explain his absence in the census for a time. Perhaps family in the South? Manisa Camp is listed in the 1850 Federal Census Montgomery County, 22nd District SW Part (p110). There is a CAMP family message board at Ancestry.com. It is free to access. These other databases I got info from because I subscribe to membership. Hope this helps. Marilyn

    2. Pat Hansen
    3. Polley, here is a web site to give you some information on the regiment. By the way, civilwararchive.com has information on all the regiments. The web site is http://www.civilwararchive.com/Unreghst/unilif10.htm#117th To get the actual record of your ancestor, go to the Illinois State Archives web site http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/arc_home.html Go to "Search online databases". This will give a listing of databases for all Illinois veterans (including the Civil War). Click on the link and search for your ancestor's basic information. With this information, you can actually order from the Archives his actual muster record. I hope this helps.
