    1. [ILMONTGO] Ware's Grove Families
    2. For those of you who may have had ancestor's living in the Ware's Grove area, this may be of interest to you. Recently an article was run in the Montgomery County News about the 140th anniversary celebration of the Ware's Grove Lutheran Church. The article had some interesting facts and a nice color picture of the church as it appears today. The information for the article was taken from a pamphlet prepared by the church for the celebration. If you are interested in a copy of the paper, contact them by e-mail [email protected] or call 1-800-529-6397 from outside Hillsboro The article appeared in the Thursday, October 5th edition. Additionally, there was a breif article with picture of the descendants of Ware Grove's first pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Livengood, in the Thursday, Oct 19th paper. Marilyn Kailua, HI

    3. Where did your Fannie POWERS WILBER come from? I had a Frances A. POWERS related (a cousin, I think) of my 2 great-grandfather, David A. BOOZE. David was an orphan living with cousins from infancy in Macoupin county. In the 1850 census, they were living with Milton EDWARDS and Esther POWERS EDWARDS. David was an heir to the estate of Thomas POWERS of Sandusky, Erie, Ohio. In 1861, Esther died and Milton made son-in-law George F. BOOSINGER guardian of David. I also have an Albert G. WILBER in Aurora who married into my mother's family, Julia McCollum about 1874 (marriage in Aurora, Kane county). Are there any coincidences here? 1. Re: [ILMONTGO] Cress
    2. From my research I have found the Cress family came to Bond and Montgomery Counties in the very early 1800's. They are listed in many places as "early settlers". Many of the File family that located mainly in Bond county lived near the Cress families in North Carolina before the move to Illinois. Marriage records show that several File's and Cress's married while in North Carolina, as well as in Illinois. I believe the Troutman families were among the early settlers also. L. Collins

    3. To, Sue Tilleman, thank you for the information on the Landers family. My connection to the family is Simon LANDERS who married Francis REAVIS. I believe he is connected to your family in some way, but I have never been able to find out who his father is. I just recently found his name listed in a cemetery book where he was buried in McLean County. Their daughter Phoebe Jane Landers married my GG Grandfather Hamilton Simmons. I would sure like to be able to find his parents and make the connection back to Christopher Landis. Donna Clark
