Gerry: The church in Burksville is Protestant. It is closed up. A copy of its church books (very poor quality and in German) are in the library at Waterloo. My Dad and his siblings grew up in Burksville and they went to St. Patrick's in Tipton, then to SS. Peter & Paul in Waterloo. I was just looking at the cemetery index for Madonnaville and found some Wierschems. Do you know about them? If not, let me know and I'll copy. >From what my Dad has said in the past Bushy Prairie was a tavern and maybe a turn in the road.
