1. That is Eagle Cliff-Miles Cemetery. This old pioneer cemetery was horribly vandalized for decades by pseudo Satan worshipers (drunken drugheads). The beautiful marble vault was broken into and bodies were flung down the bluff, headstones were sledge-hammered, spray paint was used inside the vault. Mother nature also tried to reclaim the land. We've formed a not-for-profit organization and have worked like dogs and the cemetery is beautiful again. However, of the 4,000 souls buried there, we've only been able to identify 500+. We've done this by going thru all death records at the courthouse, obits at the library, old lists of the cemetery residents and physical inventory of the remaining stones we've been able to locate thus far. The cemetery is indexed and a history has been written about it. All proceeds go to the perpetual care fund we have created to care for the cemetery when we're no longer able to mow 7 1/2 acres by hand, or epoxy and re-erect headstones weighing 100s of pounds, etc. You can order a copy by sending $10 ($8 + $2 s&h) to me at the MCGS address (P. We are raising funds now to complete a shed so we don't have to haul our mowers and other equipment up to the cemetery each time we work.
