This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: EBEL and KIMMEL/KUEMMEL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hh.2ADE/245 Message Board Post: I am hoping someone will be able to help me figure out the exact relationship between Heinrich "Henry" EBEL (b. 1810 GER d. 03 Dec 1875 Monroe Co, IL) and Henry KIMMEL/KUEMMEL. In Henry EBEL's will written 05 Nov 1875, he "gives to his adopted son Henry KIMMEL, son of my deceased wife Fransiska [KIMMEL is crossed out and EBEL is written above it] and her husband Conrad KIMMEL Four hundred dollars with legal interest thereon from the time of Two years after my decease, untill he arrives at the age of Twenty Four years...". Henry EBEL's probated estate file contains a Feb 1876 Madison Co, IL court paper signed by August HEINRICH from Troy, IL (Henry EBEL's son-in-law) stating "Henry ABEL deceased, boarded "with his son" Henry KUEMMEL" at August HEINRICH's house for a specified time and he is owed money from their lodging, washing and mending. I have searched census and marriage records for Monroe and surrounding counties and have not been successful in determining exactly how they are related. I would be grateful for any help in solving this mystery. Thank you, Jan Heiskell
